A Cup Of Tea

Hi all, Grace here.

Whilst my heart is heavy about the state of the world, and I don’t know how to construct the words I want to say… I will focus on a lovely little thing that happened a week or 2 ago.

An old British school friend of mine posted a photo of something she had received for her quarantine birthday, and I instantly fell in love with the idea.

A lovely lunchbox delivery full of British Afternoon Tea treats!

I reached out, found out where my pal got it from and got in contact with the company via Facebook. Turns out it’s a little family run business, based in Sevenoaks!

I spoke with a lovely woman named Georgia, who told me that it was all inspired by being in lockdown on maternity leave, with her now 8 month old daughter. She wanted to find a way to brighten people’s days so came up with the idea. Georgia had always been a bit of a baker, but before lockdown had never had the time to pursue it.

They are based at home at the moment but are hoping to expand soon, as it has been going so well! It’s a true family run business with Georgia and her mum doing the baking and her dad & brother doing the deliveries, along with some of their friends!

If you live in the area, and want to spoil a friend or family member, I highly recommend this.

The boxes include the following:
– Scone with strawberry conserve, and clotted cream.
– Lemon drizzle cake
– Chocolate chunk brownie
– A carrot cake muffin with a cream cheese frosting
– Macaroon
– Tuna mayonnaise and cucumber sandwich
– Outdoor reared roasted ham, and English mustard sandwich
– Organic egg mayonnaise and cress sandwich
– Mature cheddar and pickle sandwich
– One English breakfast teabag

Isn’t that a lovely idea?

£14 per box/person (though one box is quite a lot of treats!) and £2 delivery charge per address.

(They’ve also now added a ‘Ploughmans’ fit for a king, for the same price!)

So, of course I quickly placed my orders. Two afternoon tea boxes to Mum & Dave in Crowborough, two boxes to Oma & Grandad in Gillingham and another two boxes to Uncle Steve & Sheila, also in Gillingham.

I booked the deliveries in for the following week. And warned my loved ones not to make anything for lunch next Saturday! And then I forgot all about it.

Suddenly, a week later, I started receiving photos…

Sandwiches!
Scones!
Uncle Steve finished his box!
And Sheilas!
Mum knows how to take a good picture!
All the angles! I’m getting hungry now!
Mum & Dave made 2 boxes last Saturday AND Sunday!
Business card 🙂

I was so proud to be able to treat my family from all the way in New York City. To give them all a treat in the midst of quarantine and never-ending lockdown. I’ll be placing another order myself soon!

If you’re in that area of the world and fancy sending someone some genuine love, look up ‘My Cup of Tea’ on Facebook, or call the number above. OR reach out to me (grace@claritystamp.com) and I will make sure to connect you.

Just a little love & light, amidst the darkness.

Stay safe!

Lotsa Love, Grace xoxo

What a beautiful, thoughtful gift during these troubled times. It looks like they were very well received. I don’t think I’d have the restraint to make my box last two days (lol). You have a beautiful heart and soul. xx

That looks delicious! That’s a fun way to reach out to your family. I’d have a hard time choosing between the two types. The pictures of Steve made me laugh. He looks very pleased with himself.

What a wonderful gift, Grace. Afternoon tea is such a treat. We all have to focus on the bright patches of light in such grim times, so we emerge wiser and stronger instead of brutalised. May you go peacefully in the light.

They look lovely, your Mom mentioned what you had done last week but not what they had contained. They look wonderful & I am sure the business will be growing once people have read your blog. The photos you received are great to, everyone looks very happy with their treat.
I can understand why you are feeling out of sorts at the moment, just watching the news. I haven’t words !!
Take care & stay safe. Will look out for your next blog at the end of the week.

Hi there, Your mum told us about that. It was such a lovely idea and really appreciated, as you know, by all the recipients. Just keep focusing on the good things, Grace, and shut the world out as much as you can. It seems to be the only way to stay safe and sane. Be kind to yourself. Hxx

Dear Grace. What a wonderful idea, wish I lived near enough. I live in Manchester, I know there are places that do the same, a friend had one sent to her and her husband, also sent by their daughter.. Haven’t caught up with you for a while. Stay safe, at least your not alone. Really wish I had got locked down with some of the family. I think it will be a long time before I see any of them. Thank goodness we have FaceTime. Even have zoom sometime. I love Seeing your Mum every morning, I don’t always try to draw etc, just love her company. She deserves all the praise she is getting.
I have a beautiful rose out in the garden, called Grace Xxxxxx
