Hi all, Grace here.
Whilst my heart is heavy about the state of the world, and I don’t know how to construct the words I want to say… I will focus on a lovely little thing that happened a week or 2 ago.
An old British school friend of mine posted a photo of something she had received for her quarantine birthday, and I instantly fell in love with the idea.
A lovely lunchbox delivery full of British Afternoon Tea treats!
I reached out, found out where my pal got it from and got in contact with the company via Facebook. Turns out it’s a little family run business, based in Sevenoaks!
I spoke with a lovely woman named Georgia, who told me that it was all inspired by being in lockdown on maternity leave, with her now 8 month old daughter. She wanted to find a way to brighten people’s days so came up with the idea. Georgia had always been a bit of a baker, but before lockdown had never had the time to pursue it.
They are based at home at the moment but are hoping to expand soon, as it has been going so well! It’s a true family run business with Georgia and her mum doing the baking and her dad & brother doing the deliveries, along with some of their friends!
If you live in the area, and want to spoil a friend or family member, I highly recommend this.
The boxes include the following:
– Scone with strawberry conserve, and clotted cream.
– Lemon drizzle cake
– Chocolate chunk brownie
– A carrot cake muffin with a cream cheese frosting
– Tuna mayonnaise and cucumber sandwich
– Outdoor reared roasted ham, and English mustard sandwich
– Organic egg mayonnaise and cress sandwich
– Mature cheddar and pickle sandwich
– One English breakfast teabag
Isn’t that a lovely idea?
£14 per box/person (though one box is quite a lot of treats!) and £2 delivery charge per address.
(They’ve also now added a ‘Ploughmans’ fit for a king, for the same price!)
So, of course I quickly placed my orders. Two afternoon tea boxes to Mum & Dave in Crowborough, two boxes to Oma & Grandad in Gillingham and another two boxes to Uncle Steve & Sheila, also in Gillingham.
I booked the deliveries in for the following week. And warned my loved ones not to make anything for lunch next Saturday! And then I forgot all about it.
Suddenly, a week later, I started receiving photos…
I was so proud to be able to treat my family from all the way in New York City. To give them all a treat in the midst of quarantine and never-ending lockdown. I’ll be placing another order myself soon!
If you’re in that area of the world and fancy sending someone some genuine love, look up ‘My Cup of Tea’ on Facebook, or call the number above. OR reach out to me (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I will make sure to connect you.
Just a little love & light, amidst the darkness.
Lotsa Love, Grace xoxo
