Clarity’s Matters Blog Tutorial: How To Use The Corner Quartets

Hello hello! Grace here.

We hope this finds you well and enjoying your Sunday! The day of rest. Does this include some crafting for you?

If it does, we have another wonderful step-by-step project for you! The lovely Tina Cox has prepared a tutorial. An opportunity to learn something new perhaps… and for free!

Tina was on telly yesterday. Didn’t she do well? If you missed it, you can catch up HERE.

For today though, let’s dive right into this crafty project! I’ll pass you right over to our talented teacher.

NOTE:
All the embossing on this project is done on the back.
The colouring on this project is all done on the back except for the gem, which is done on the front and the back.
All the perforating and cutting on this project are done from the front.

Step 1. Over the Nested Scallops Squares Groovi plate, emboss the largest and 2nd smallest squares and scallops using the Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool).

Step 2. Using the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool) for the circles and the Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool) for the rest of the line art, emboss the design from the Small Christmas Corners 2 Groovi plate into the corners of the large square.

Step 3. Emboss the angel from the Small Christmas Corners 2 Groovi plate into the small square. Use the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool) for the wings and the Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool) for the rest of the line art.

Step 4. Radiating out from the small square to the large square, emboss the long wreath from the Small Christmas Corners 1 Groovi plate. Use the Groovi No.2 tool (or Pergamano 1.5mm embossing ball tool) for the circles you want to emboss white and the Groovi No.1 tool (or Pergamano 1mm embossing ball tool) for the rest of the line art.

Step 5. Using the Groovi No.3 and No.4 tools (or Pergamano 1.5mm and 3mm embossing ball tools), emboss gently inside the angel wings, dress and all the circles that had been embossed with the Groovi No.2 tool. Start with the largest ball tool and let the parchment rest between layers.

Step 6. Still working on the back, colour the small elements with Perga Colour Exclusives.

Step 7. Along the inside edge of the large square and outside the edge of the small square, colour using the Dorso Crayon.
Place a drop of Dorso oil on a spot-on sponge. Fold a kitchen towel in a triangular shape, touch it onto the sponge to pick up some oil and blend the colour so it is darker along the edges and fading out toward the centre of the parchment.

TOP TIP: If you have too much oil on the napkin, the colour will come off, so blot off the excess on another piece of dry kitchen towel. If you have too little oil, the blending will not be smooth, so touch just the very tip of the Dorso oil for the tiniest amount of oil.

Step 8. On the front, perforate inside all of the scallops and outside the larger scallops square using the Pergamano bold 2-needle perforating tool.
Picot cut between all the perforations making sure the scissors are over the waste when you cut.

Step 9. Add as much or as little (or none at all) Perga glitter as you wish.
Cut a square from a companion paper using a Nested Square Picot Die that is larger than the parchment piece.
Mount the parchment piece onto the companion paper using brads and stick this on folded white card. And you’re finished!

That is a STUNNING card. Thank you, Tina, for breaking this project down for us into achievable steps. So much work has gone into this card, but you make it look easy.

Thank you for this step by step, stunning work. It certainly is inspiring, thank you Tina for sharing and for the shows yesterday.

On a separate note, apologies I am not on Facebook if the answer has already been provided, but has anyone discovered where the beautiful bauble die that Val Hodgson used last week in her lovely card is from?

Thunder, lightning and heavy rain here at the moment so a crafty day Im thinking!

Have a good week everyone, keep safe.

According to the reply I got from Clarity, the bauble was purchased by Val Hodgson from a charity shop…so not a Clarity product, although the little penguin is. Hope this helps.🙂👍🏻

Thank you Jane for your reply, very kind of you. I shall just have to keep an eye out for any bauble dies! The little penguin will make it to my basket later this evening!

I was told that it was picked up in a charity shop, and isn’t Clarity. Apologies!

Another great project, thanks Tina. I have the A4sq plates but I will see what I can come up with as I love all the elements that are included on such a small area.
A busy week ahead for Clarity, so looking forward to seeing what is in store for us.

    Hi, Grace and Tina,
Beautiful project as usual, love it. Will have to try it when I get home.
On Friday we came to a smashing hotel in North Norfolk to quietly celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary today away from phones, e-mails, door knocks etc. and to do some uninterrupted crafting yesterday as I already have Tina’s plates. Unfortunately we were unable to watch as the TV was not geared up for this so missed it all. Just hope the home system recorded properly.
Thank you too for the preview of the samples in the show, and for the cards shown yesterday. There are some very talented people out there.
