Clarity Matters Blog Tutorial: Making A Concertina Card
Hello hello! Grace here.
I hope this finds you safe, well and enjoying your Saturday morning so far.
We are joined this week by the incredibly talented Shelagh Metselaar, our good friend and Clarity Crafts Design Team Member. I will hand you over to our teacher for today…
Making A Concertina Card
Here’s an example of another Concertina card, for added inspiration…
And here is what we are going to create together today…
Ingredients
Clarity Card Blank 8” x 8” (ACC-CA-31677-88)
Barb’s Favourite Great Lakes Set 2 (ACC-CA-30916-88)
Clarity Infusions Paper (2 sheets) – Hibiscus (ACC-CA-31459-88)
Clarity Just Butterflies and Bees Silhouette Framers stamp set (STA-AN-11991-A5)
Pinky Gray – Greetings Sticker Collection (ACC-SC-31639-A5)
Faber –Castell Polychromos (ACC-PE-30797-XX)
Perga Glue (PER-AC-70133-XX)
Method
Step 1. Score Clarity 8” x 8” card blank at 2″ intervals; 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 14 inches.
Step 2. Fold and burnish each score in a valley and mountain fold pattern.
Step 3. Tear a sliver from each edge of chosen Hibiscus paper with the aid of a ruler.
Step 4. Pencil mark top and bottom of Hibiscus sheet at 1 ¾ inch intervals and tear, again with the aid of a ruler. Put them in place.
Step 5. Adhere a strip to each fold as in photo.
Step 6. On Barb’s Favourite Great Lakes 2 set, stamp the round Butterfly Framer three times. In all instances, I used Versafine Clair Morning Mist.
Step 7. Stamp the square Butterfly Framer six times on the Great Lakes paper.
Step 8. At this point, I decided to trim around each image.
Step 9. Colour the square stamped images. Photo shows some of the Polychromo colours I selected.
Yellow – 107, 184;
Pink/Brown – 131, 188, 191
Blue – 140, 120, 151, 246.
Additional colours – Turquoise – 185, 149; Pink/Brown – 190, 129.
Step 10. Colour chosen area with Polychromo 131.
Step 11. Add colours 140 and 191 (Polychromos)
Step 12. Add in Yellows 107 and 184, and Blue 151
Step 13. Colour round Butterfly Framer with 185, 149, 190, 191, 129 and 151.
Step 14. Glue square Framers top and bottom as in photo – all on the ‘upside’ of the fold. I gave this a dry run without glue to ascertain the correct positioning.
Step 15. Adhere round Butterfly Framer centrally – all on each ‘downside.’
Step 16. Select suitable stickers from the Greetings Sticker Collection and gently dust with pink ink. Attach to first and last section.
Your concertina card is now complete!
What an epic finished card! Beautiful to receive and open up.
Thank you, Shelagh, for putting this brilliant step-by-step project together for us. Breaking these projects down into easy to follow steps makes it achievable for the rest of us, and we so appreciate that!
For those of you crafting away at home, please don’t forget to share your versions with us on Groovi Worldwide. We so love to see your versions of these cards! And sometimes they even make the Saturday Share blog too! 🙂

Now that we are using smaller cards most of the time I was wondering what I could do with my stock of 8×8 cards so this project is both timely and inspirational. Thank you both for showing this.
Stay well, be safe.
What a lovely project! I have lots of stamp sets this would work with too. Thanks Shelagh, and Merry Christmas to all of the Clarity family xx
Wow – what a lovely project to have a go at. Thank you so much Shelagh. Xxxx
What a fab project ! a bit different and seeing how you’ve added the colour make it come alive. My daughter in law loves butterflies so might give this one a try for her and, as it’s not till June (birthday!) I’ll have plenty of time! Thank you very much Shelagh and Grace. X
Hi Grace & Shelagh, what a lovely project to use those smaller stamps & larger cards. I think this will have to be put on hold until after Christmas as the days are fast disappearing & my list of jobs is growing, which is not so good.
Have a good week everyone xx
Thank you Grace and Shelagh, lovely card a bit different.
I print out the Sunday step by step blogs. I will definatelty make this card.
Love Janet Cummings xx
Wow that’s amazing – I wonder if I could translate this in to a parchment card………
Absolutely fabulous project! Thank you so much Shelagh, for taking the time to show us how these clever cards are constructed. X Barb
