A Whale of a Time
Greetings, Thursday blog readers. Stuart here with some Clarity matters, for you! Well, Clarity matters, we’ll get to in due course.
Firstly, not gonna lie, I’m quite excited to share my whale with you. We were at the beach, you see (not a packed beach, everyone was very well behaved and respectful of the current requirements for social interaction), at Rottingdean, near Brighton. The girl was very happy paddling in the sea with her mum, but boy-child took a lot of coaxing to dip his toes in the ocean, so he and I sat playing with pebbles. He painted some and I organised some into the shape of a whale, which you can see below. And, as I was having a go at ‘beach art’ I thought to myself ‘oooh, I bet they’d enjoy this on the blog’! So it’s a whale for all you blog readers. He was probably about 15 inches long and took an hour or so…
And, because I can, I thought I’d use my little whale as an excuse for a blog competition. So… I’d like you to choose a name for the whale. Write your suggestions in the comments to this post, and I’ll pick a winner by choosing my favourite name, and will announce it on my Tuesday blog next week. There is a nice little prize reserved for the winner, too, with a seaside theme, so send those names in. Feel free to suggest as many names as you like, because it only takes one to win 🙂
In other news, bargain lovers everywhere will be glad to know about August’s Products of the Month.
We’ve got Edwardian Plaques in Groovi and Die, and Leonie Pujol designed Circus stamp set and stencil collection with 33% off for you all this month. The Plaues are a beautifully functional shape that are great for framing or containing content like words and sentiments, and the Circus designs are great for textures and backgrounds and layering. There is a lot of potential for creativity here. If you wanna see just how awesome they can be, take a little look at the galleries below. Stunning, right?
Well, that’s all from me, I believe. Have a nice day and get cracking on those names 😉
Stuart
Pebbles!
What a lovely piece of beach art.
Wilfred Whale!!!
Wilbur
Very artistic! That’s the kind of thing I would do, only mine would be a flower, or something simple 😊
Great whale stuart! I would call him Wilberforce the mighty!! I hope you have got all the sand out of your car!! hx
Wolly Whale for me Stuart.
Wow that’s fab! How about a seaside name -Wade the whale x
My first thought was Pebbles, a bit too obvious, so my second try would be Beached Whale. I bet you spent most of your hour looking for the right colours of stones.
Great you found enough blue/grey stones amongst what looks like a predominately sand coloured beach. How about Beluga?
Love it, I name her Bright Belle 🐳🐬 x
Lovely whale…..I’d call him Wally!
Hi
Love your creativity. My suggestion is Wanda Whale.
Have a good day.
Zara
Lovely whale! It’s amazing what different colours you can see on a beach!
My name choice would be “whoosh the whale”.
I’d call her Brighton Belle 🙂 xx
I think he’s great and automatically thought “Bruce” don’t ask me why but that’s what I think he’s called. Hope you had a great day at the beach xx
Lovely whale, I thought first of all of calling him Bob, then Dean (Rottingdean) then finally Rocky because he’s made from pebbles/stones/rocks.
Pebble Beached.
Well the only name that comes to mind is Wonderful. Wonderful Whale xxx
What a great way to spend time on the beach and encouraging boy-child to be creative. He will enjoy the water one day.
My choice of names would be, Waldo, Wilhemina or Peebles.
enjoy the rest of the day
I think he looks like a Winston, it suits him, fab job of the whale x
How about calling the whale Blue? He’s lovely. xx
How about Waldorf, Wesley or Weebles or maybe Wellington. He’s a lovely little chap.
Lovely art Stuart and how great that the children were involved. The whale looks like quite a sailor so I name him Horatio!
Take care
Christine
Great idea. Might try this with my grandchildren when we can get them to a beach! I’ll go for Moby Dean, Moby Dick’s brother 😀
I’ll call him Bubba!
Great pebble picture. Wendy? but think maybe he is male – Wilbur because he has come a great distance from near America. All good fun.
Brilliant beach art Stuart! How about it’s name being “Ovatime” – because you obviously had a “whale of a time” creating your pebbley Orca!
Lovely beach art, boy child will like the water soon enough.
Your whale’s name….Bluey
I would call him Wilfred xx
A whale names Whada
Love the Whale – my name is Wendy so I’m suggesting that. Not many animals are named Wendy, in fact I don’t know of any.
As you made it with rocks, Shale the Whale also seems appropriate.
It’s lovely that you can craft anywhere and with anything.
I am going to call him Benji for no other reason than I like the name
How about Oscar,or Wilberforce, or Erasmus
Wow, Stuart, your whale art is fantastic! What a fun way to while away an hour or so. She tells me her name is Petra, meaning stone or rock. Did you create her close enough to the water’s edge so that, as the tide came in, her spirit could be washed back out to sea?
I name this whale
Waldo
x
I would call it Wilson…afterall…he’s been washed up on the beach….just like the film Castaway!
I think he should be called Surf, this is the how I love to see them ploughing through the wave s and surf. Magnificent creatures
The whale name Willy.
What a great idea to introduce pebble art. Sandy, because the beach isn’t, or Clarity, because I’m not sure about the water, if your lad won’t go in, or Grace, because whales are amazing, so graceful for their size, but we would need sex confirmed for that one.
What a lovely way to pass the time. I would call the whale Beauty.
May I introduce the Right ‘onerable Ting Dean
RO ‘Ting Dean At your service ma’am here to make you smile 😊
Looks like a Walter whale to me!
Waimea the Whale after the fab papers
Your whale looks brilliant, I think he could be called Wally.
Splash, as that is what whales do!
Your little one will find the sea soon enough. The first time my daughter went into the sea she asked for more “hot ” to be put in!
Wow, I’ve seen paintend rocks at the beach before and I’ve seen pictures in the sand but wow what a great idea! I’d name him Votta whale. And you have to say it in Barbs accent when she is doing an impression of her lovely Mum. Glad you has a splendid beach day with your family.🐳
He looks beautiful it must have been hard to leave him.
My idea is Fred or Fred flintstone who’s daughter was pebbles.
I’d like to call him Stony Blue!
Hello Stuart,
Your whale is lovely. Very clever of you both.
I name your whale ‘Ahab’.
Love
Roz.xxx
Very artistic Stuart,name Wesley
Hi Stuart
WOW what a beautiful whale, and boy what a lot of names have already been given.
My first thought was Pebbles, then Willy (as in Free Willy), or Bright Star, or Blue, or Wonderblue (as in wonderful), or Wishy.
Well good luck in picking a name for your beautiful whale.
Love & Hugs
