A Whale of a Time

Greetings, Thursday blog readers. Stuart here with some Clarity matters, for you! Well, Clarity matters, we’ll get to in due course.

Firstly, not gonna lie, I’m quite excited to share my whale with you. We were at the beach, you see (not a packed beach, everyone was very well behaved and respectful of the current requirements for social interaction), at Rottingdean, near Brighton. The girl was very happy paddling in the sea with her mum, but boy-child took a lot of coaxing to dip his toes in the ocean, so he and I sat playing with pebbles. He painted some and I organised some into the shape of a whale, which you can see below. And, as I was having a go at ‘beach art’ I thought to myself ‘oooh, I bet they’d enjoy this on the blog’! So it’s a whale for all you blog readers. He was probably about 15 inches long and took an hour or so…

And, because I can, I thought I’d use my little whale as an excuse for a blog competition. So… I’d like you to choose a name for the whale. Write your suggestions in the comments to this post, and I’ll pick a winner by choosing my favourite name, and will announce it on my Tuesday blog next week. There is a nice little prize reserved for the winner, too, with a seaside theme, so send those names in. Feel free to suggest as many names as you like, because it only takes one to win 🙂

In other news, bargain lovers everywhere will be glad to know about August’s Products of the Month.

We’ve got Edwardian Plaques in Groovi and Die, and Leonie Pujol designed Circus stamp set and stencil collection with 33% off for you all this month. The Plaues are a beautifully functional shape that are great for framing or containing content like words and sentiments, and the Circus designs are great for textures and backgrounds and layering. There is a lot of potential for creativity here. If you wanna see just how awesome they can be, take a little look at the galleries below. Stunning, right?

Well, that’s all from me, I believe. Have a nice day and get cracking on those names 😉

Stuart

My first thought was Pebbles, a bit too obvious, so my second try would be Beached Whale. I bet you spent most of your hour looking for the right colours of stones.

Great you found enough blue/grey stones amongst what looks like a predominately sand coloured beach. How about Beluga?

Love the Whale – my name is Wendy so I’m suggesting that. Not many animals are named Wendy, in fact I don’t know of any.

As you made it with rocks, Shale the Whale also seems appropriate.

It’s lovely that you can craft anywhere and with anything.

Wow, Stuart, your whale art is fantastic! What a fun way to while away an hour or so. She tells me her name is Petra, meaning stone or rock. Did you create her close enough to the water’s edge so that, as the tide came in, her spirit could be washed back out to sea?

What a great idea to introduce pebble art. Sandy, because the beach isn’t, or Clarity, because I’m not sure about the water, if your lad won’t go in, or Grace, because whales are amazing, so graceful for their size, but we would need sex confirmed for that one.

    Hi Stuart
WOW what a beautiful whale, and boy what a lot of names have already been given.
My first thought was Pebbles, then Willy (as in Free Willy), or Bright Star, or Blue, or Wonderblue (as in wonderful), or Wishy.

Well good luck in picking a name for your beautiful whale.

    Love & Hugs
    Xxxxxxx
