Groovi SHAC Friday!
Hello! Grace here 🙂
How are you doing? I hope you’re all having a pleasant week.
Mine? Brilliant! On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being Beirut, 10 being anywhere else) I’d say I’m at least a 10. Just overwhelmingly lucky to be safe, healthy & happy over here!
Donating is something that has helped me ‘handle’ the tragedy this week. If you find you’re struggling with it too, as a fellow empath, donate! It really did help me feel less helpless here in NYC.
And the scary truth is… that could have happened in any number of places, to any of us. There but for the grace of God, go I.
I just looked up the exact meaning of that phrase because I say it a lot (guess who I got it from?!) and it says the following:
‘I too, like someone seen to have suffered misfortune, might have suffered a similar fate, but for God’s mercy.’
Blimey! Ain’t that the truth. So let’s count OUR blessings and do what we can to help from afar. If you can’t donate, perhaps make a card with the poor people of Beirut in mind. I’m a believer in positive energy, and it certainly can’t hurt! But here’s a link with some resources, if like me, you’re at a loss as to how to help.
Speaking of positive energy… I’d love to share this week’s beautiful Groovi SHAC cards with you!
STUNNING! All of them. Another round of glorious homework turned in! I’m seeing more and more Christmas creeping in… But I suppose it is August already! I’m not going to pretend like you weren’t making Christmas cards in May too though! hahah!
Here is your next challenge…
We’re driving to the seaside/coast this weekend… to get some socially distanced fresh air. The drive is 5 hours from NYC… Can you guess where we might be going? If you can guess correctly I’ll enter you into a raffle to win this Groovi plate set! I’m sticking with Stuart’s lovely seaside theme!! Make sure to check out his blog yesterday, if you haven’t already! There’s a competition there too!)
Enjoy your weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow with my Saturday share 🙂
Lotsa love, Grace xo

Hello Grace,
Thank you for showcasing one of my cards again. I am gobsmacked how many times East Northants Groovi Group members feature in your roundup.
Also I am pleased to hear you are safe and well, enjoy your trip to the coast. Sorry but I haven’t a scooby doo where you are going, lol.
Love
Roz.xxx
Well done Ros! X
Thanks for showing one of my cards again Grace. As far as your trip is concerned, my knowledge of America and indeed New York is really bad! However google has helped me a bit and I have plumped for Newport Rhode Island but I’m sure I will be wrong. Wherever it is, hope you have a great time and stay safe xx
Thank you for choosing my card – I am deeply honoured!!!!
Hope you have a wonderful time at the seaside, wherever you end up!
Hi,
Would you be going to The Hamptons or Cape COD or are they too far? Maybe Long Island. Have a great weekend. X
Hi Grace glad you are safe from the hurricanes visit. Is the answer Long Island
It is one of my favourite phrases too Grace, as my dear mum used it all the time, as do I. As for the Grace part, your mum named you well and you have lived up to it beautifully. Have a fantastic weekend. X
Cape Cod ? 🙂
I did have to use Google maps Grace, I won’t lie! I think you may head to Cape Cod; that would be the destination I would choose xxxx
Hi Grace
Whether you go I hope you have an amazing time, my guess is Jersey Shore. Xx
Brighton beach or Coney Island. Wish I was there xx
No correct guesses so far 😉
(You can guess again if you like!)
Rockport. Have a good time wherever it is and thanks for all the inspiration.
Maybe St Michael’s in Maryland? Wherever you go have a lovely time x
I reckon you are off to Chincoteague but I am probably wrong. Wherever you go have a fabulous time over the weekend & I look forward to hearing all about it next week.
Another great selection of cards, week 17 of Groovi SHAC projects coming up & we have just finished doodling week 18 with your Mom – where have those weeks gone to ?
Taking in the current situation I am guessing your own little balcony 😊 wherever it is I hope you have a lovely restful weekend xx
Maybe you’re off to Nantucket ??🥰
Hi Grace where ever you go I hope you have a lovely weekend, I have been googling
And guessing Seaside Heights.
Maryx
For me it’s the mileage that matters. How long it takes is who in this house is driving !!! No guesses on where but wherever you are going I hope you enjoy it.
Once again a wonderful card display – congratulations everyone.
So far I’ve done 14 of the 17 Groovi shac projects but no use me trying to put them on the computer. I manage e-mails and the Clarity site but Facebook, Twitter, Zoom and all the rest completely baffle me. Doesn’t help that I have a lap top with a mind of it’s own and keeps throwing me down to the bottom of the page mid sentence/word. So annoying.
Stay safe Grace. 🍒
New Foundland? or is this too far?
Ocean City, Maryland? Have fun. It’s supposed to be a lovely weekend all along the coast.
Have a great weekend Grace, hope the weather is beautiful when you get there.
Wherever you are going I hope you have a great time. I’m thinking maybe the Hamptons….the cold, cold Atlantic Ocean on a hot, hot day……
Stay safe
Xxx
As I never watch the news I had no idea about Beirut until I read your blog, so I’m going to read about it when I’m done here. Sounds dreadful and I had no idea. I’ve seen nothing on Facebook or in those bits that pop up now and then. Definitely, there but for the grace of God…. I did see about a plague of locusts in Africa making things so much harder than they already are.
I’ve started my Christmas cards as I have to send to friends and family in Australia, NZ, Japan and Hong Kong (surface mail -it’s much cheaper) by the end of September. The cards usually go air mail even though i send surface mail, but not worth the risk to send later, and parcels usually do go by sea. So Christmas is on my mind from August.
I hope you and your Mark have a good weekend.
Are you going to Nantucket?? My geography isn’t that great! But wherever you go, hope you have a lovely time!
Thank you Grace, feeling very pleased that my card was included in your lovely selection. Since the lockdown started I am way ahead on my birthday cards so have started on the Christmas cards in between. It’s a dreadful business in Beirut, but i do wonder whether our donations actually get help the right people, with the corruption that goes on in these countries.
I think that a 300 mile journey would take you to Virginia Beach or there abouts. Have a wonderful weekend at the seaside and stay safe.xx
Well from reading many novels set in New York (mostly crime novels) I seem to remember somewhere called Rockaway beach. Have I just made that up? I think it stuck in my mind because it’s such a lovely word. Have a great time xx
Hope you and Mark have a lovely weekend wherever you end up.
Maybe your going to Chesapeake beach, Maryland?
What about Kittery Portsmouth, are they one place or two separate ones ! I like the sound of Kittery being a cat person ! X
I think you have gone to Cape Cod for the weekend. Enjoy.
You must be in New England then.
Maybe Newport or Rhode Island.
I’m amending my guess to Rockport?! Seeing as I got it wrong ….. needed a map to help though!
This is my last guess- Cape Elizabeth!
Trying again Grace, is it Portsmouth, New Hampshire?
As nobody else has suggested this one, I’ll give it a try… Portland, Maine
Guessing again, what about Old Orchard beach, Maine?
Hi Grace
Well my geography is absolutely useless so I’ve had to look at a map.
I’m not sure how fast you and Mark will be driving so guessing, so here are a few places that I have seen on the map
How about Miami? Although this could be a little far
Melbourne? No not the one is Australia
Daytona Beach – sounds nice?
Savannah? – that used to be the name of a nice golden rum
Charleston. – for a quick once round the dance floor
Myrtle Beach – not sure what I can say about this name?
Nags Head. – now that is the name of a pub just round the corner from me??
Virginia Beach. – sounds good
Ocean City. – Sounds beautiful
Atlantic City. – Isn’t that the name of the city that was buried under water or something like that
Cape Cod. – You could go fishing
New London. – Your mum will be pleased to see you, oh no in England it’s Old London
Martha’s Vineyard. – Boozey weekend
Newport. – I’m sure that is in Wales
Falmouth. – I’m sure that is down south
Well I’m all out of guesses
Wherever you go have a great time
Love & Hugs
Xxxxx
