Clarity Matters Blog Tutorial: Floral Alphabet – The Letter D

Hello hello! Grace here.

I hope this finds you safe, well and enjoying your weekend.

Apologies for the delay on the blog this morning. We’ve been at the Clarity Open Days all weekend and though I had put the blog together, I hadn’t yet scheduled it for 8am. Whooooops! But hey, better late than never 😉 Thanks for your understanding.

We are joined again this week by the super talented Josie Davidson, our good friend and Clarity Crafts Design Team Member. I will hand you over to our teacher for today…

7×7 White Card Blank (ACC-CA-31672-77)

Gold Brads (PER-AC-70274-XX)
2mm Crystals (PER-CR-70402-XX)
Perga Glue (PER-AC-70133-XX)
Tumble Dryer Sheet

Method

Step 1. 1. Trace the frames from the square framer plate. Next, add the second set of double lines from the outside of the picot square plate around the outside with the number 1 Groovi tool. You will have to avoid some of the curved lines that are already embossed, so take care not to go through them.

Step 2. Add the letter of your choice into the centre square using the Groovi number 1 tool for the letter and some of the flowers. Use the Groovi number 2 tool on the flower petals that you are going to emboss white.

Step 3. Using your Groovi number 2 tool for the dots, and your Groovi number 1 tool for the lines, emboss the grid design of your choice from the grid sampler plate. The patterns tessellate so you will have to move your parchment to complete all of the letter.

Step 4. Using your ball tools or shader tools, emboss the flower petals you traced with the Groovi number 2 tool from the back of the work. Start with the largest sized tool and work down through the sizes, letting your work rest between each layer for at least half and hour.

Step 5. Colour the design with Perga Liner pencils on the back and blend with Dorso oil. I used a combination of B3 and B8 for the daisy centres.

Step 6. Working on a thin foam mat, perforate around each of the corners of the outer line with the semi circle tool. I did 9 sets of perforations along each corner.

Step 7. If you place a piece of copy paper under your parchment as you are using the semi square tool then you can use this as your template for the other corners.

Step 8. Place your work face down onto the straight grid. Align the spaces in the semi square perforations up with the holes on the grid. You can now emboss a dot in each one with your Groovi number 2 tool.

Step 9. Re-perforate the semi square perforations with your 1-needle tool on a thick foam mat. Perforate the gaps between the semi square perforations with your 2-needle tool.

Step 10. Picot cut the three sets of holes inside each of the semi square perforations. I cut the wider gap first, which is near the outline of the design and then the two small gaps because I think this gives a neater finish.

Step 11. Picot cut around the outer edge of the semi square perforations and the 2-needle perforations. Trim the companion paper to a 6.5 inch square and attach your finished work to it using brads. Use the roller tape runner to attach this to your card blank and tiny dots of Perga Glue in the flower centres to attach your crystals.

Absolutely beautiful!!

Thank you, Josie, for kindly putting together this very helpful blog tutorial for us. Those floral alphabet letter plates are pretty special, and you can do so much with them.
For those of you crafting at home, please don’t forget to share your versions with us on Groovi Worldwide. We so love to see your versions of these tutorials! And sometimes they even make the Saturday Share blog too! 🙂 It’s a feedback loop… and we love that.

Everything that Josie has used in this particular project is available in a shopping list, HERE. It’s nice to look through all the other individual letters. What a beautiful set!

Hi Grace & Josie, what a great project. My letters arrived just before I set out for Ditton so well timed for making my daughters birthday card so I will delay sharing the result as she looks at the FB pages !!
Thank you to Barbara & all the team for a fantastic 2 Open Days, apologies as there were still people I didn’t get round to actually speak to but there was plenty of chatting & spreading the word of the new World of Clarity & how to find it so all good. Its nice to know that the Clarity family is growing.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day at the workshops & I look forward to seeing what they got up to.
Safe journey home Grace, it was lovely chatting to you in person instead of online.

PS for anyone new to doing these projects steps 8,9 & 10 should read semi square not semi circle. It was probably predictive text not recognising semi square 😂
