Clarity Matters Blog Tutorial: A 3D Petal Box

Hello hello! Grace here.

I hope this finds you safe, happy and feeling crafty!

Firstly, let me gently remind you that Mum and Paul are on TV again today; 10am & 2pm. Not to be missed! And you can catch up on yesterday’s shows HERE.

We are joined today by the super talented Shelagh Metselaar, from the Clarity Design Team. I’m sure you’ve seen her stunning work all over the place. She has generously put together a step-by-step blog tutorial for us.
I’ll hand you right over to our teacher…

Shelagh Metselaar

Petal Box

Ingredients

Fresh Cut Dies – Nested Circle Foliage Doodle Frame-Its and Panels (ACC-DI-31470-XX)
Designer Papers – Northern Lights (ACC-CA-30443-88)
Designer Card  5” x 7” – Northern Lights (ACC-CA-30553-57)
Perga Glue (PER-AC-70133-XX)

Method

Box Base:

Step 1. Cut Designer Card to measure 5” x 5”. Score at ¾” and 4 ¼”. Repeat on each side as shown in photograph.

Step 2. Fold and burnish each each side. Trim out small triangle where two scores meet at each corner to create four tabs.

Step 3. Using Perga Glue, attach each tab to the inside of the base to form an open box.

Box Sleeve:

Step 4. Take first sheet of Designer Card and score at 7/8”, 4 3/8” and 5”. Trim to 5 ¾”.

Step 5. With second sheet of designer card, score at 3/4”. Fold and burnish tab. Adhere to left hand tab of first sheet with Perga Glue. Leave for a couple of minutes to set, place box base inside and fold over large flap onto second flap. Add glue to this flap/tab and adjust fit whilst glue is still wet. (Wiggle about for a perfect – but not too tight – fit).

Your sleeve and base are complete!

Step 6. Cut 5th smallest Foliage Circle four times from Designer Paper.

Step 7. Cut Designer Paper to measure 3 ½” x 3 ½”.

Step 7. Score first circle in half. Glue in place.

Step 8. Repeat as above, on all 4 sides.

Step 9. Gently tuck each circle in (as in photograph) and attach to top of sleeve.

Step 10. Your 3D project is now complete and ready to add your gift, card or any other kind of goodies inside!

What a lovely little gift box! I want one full of chocolate please 😉

    Hi Grace and Shelagh.
Lovely project. I have a stash of home made boxes, so the design on the top will look fab, thank you.
    Happy Sunday.

Hi Linda, looks to me like the info Grace has posted states No shac Monday and Thursday. I’m sure that Barb will be back soon. She is probably recovering from the Marathon of Clarity goodness at the weekend on C&C. Well deserved break I’d say.
      Lots of love

Hi Tina I see it’s been changed since it was first posted on Sunday. I did know Barbara wasn’t doing it Monday and she doesn’t do the Shac on Thurs morning as its usually the evening. I mentioned it for those who would be querying it.

Great idea Shelagh and one that can be repeated in many mediums, I can already picture a groovi and felt version! With Christmas truly launched this would be ideal for little gifts or any time of the year actually. Thanks and have a great weekend both of you xx
