Hello hello! Grace here.

How are you doing? I hope your week has gone as smoothly as possible. This last week has felt a little lighter than other weeks, for the most part. I think it’s because I started dieting on Monday actually, with the rest of the Gray-Scalers. You can find our lovely new community on Facebook HERE. There’s already about 250 of us over there, egging each other on and supporting each other to either lose weight or gain weight.

Actually, I believe I was a little late to the party because who in their right mind would start a diet on Thanksgiving week?! At their Mother-In-Law’s house? Not a chance. She’s an epic cook and (similarly to my own mother) wouldn’t have it. It was a lovely Thanksgiving. I hope you American friends enjoyed your holidays too.

But back to this week! There’s something to be said for taking control of an aspect of your life. At the moment I feel like we’ve globally realised that we don’t have as much control over things as we once thought we did. Our trust rug has been pulled out from underneath us, if you will. Maybe it’s just me.. But I think we at least thought we had more control of life before the pandemic hit last year.

I’ve gotten a bit tired of feeling that way recently; anxious, a bit rudderless, lacking in motivation, fearful. Fearful because I can’t control the rapid pace at which people seem to be passing away around me, even after the worst of the pandemic, or whether people will be able to travel internationally 3 weeks from now. I have absolutely zero control of these things.

There’s that serenity prayer again…

But what I can control is myself. Up to a point! 😉 And something about taking control of my life, at least in what I eat and drink each day, is really giving me some focus and drive. Having to drink 4 litres of water a day will do that to you apparently. A few days in and many of us are already talking about how much better we feel, just from eating a little lighter and drinking 10 times the amount of water we did before. You can find me on the loo thanks!

But seriously. It’s the best I’ve felt in awhile. Just having a crew of people with the same (or similar) objectives. We all want to feel better about ourselves! And better our health.

A couple of fearful years of sitting indoors by myself has done nothing for my confidence… or my bottom! And I know I’m not alone in that. Enter Barbara, and 250 other women in the same boat (it’s a big boat). And so now we take a little control back. If you fancy joining us, you should.

But now for our weekly Saturday Share! We’ve got some beautiful cards this week! Grab a cup of tea and check these out…

Beautiful selection of cards, as always, from the talented “Clarity family”. I agree you could have picked a better time to diet, but then if you keep putting it off you will never start and If you’d have started your diet in the new year it would be bound to fail (as many do); so good on you! Planner already set for Sunday. I love the yearly Elf/Gnome hunt and even my hubby is addicted and asks what the clue is so he can guess where they will be hiding. It really shows how much knowledge we have of the Clarity range when we get it straight away (lol). Have a good week.

I know exactly what you mean about losing confidence over these past couple of years. Even though I’m double vaccinated and have just had the booster jab I still don’t feel confident about going out and about. I know, as my husband frequently tells me, I have to learn to live with and accept it but I’m still not happy.
How you manage to choose the cards week in week out to share with us all is a feat in itself they are all stunning – couldn’t pick a favourite if my life depended on it as they are all so different. Take care and fingers crossed that you will still be able to come home for Christmas xxx

Hi Grace, another great selection of cards again this week & lovely to see another youngster enjoying the Groovi process. I have been trying to drink more water this week to see if it makes me feel any better & after listening to your mom on Thursday I think I was probably a little dehydrated. Surprising how the day flies by though so rather than go & get a drink every hour I keep my glass topped up so I can drink it slowly rather than gulping down a glass full. Apparently it is better that way but we will see. Downside is having to go to the loo more often but if it means the weight goes down it is worth it. I will be glad when I can get my glasses sorted – at the moment I am not wearing any to walk about but have a pair of supermarket readers for close work on the advice of my optician – problem is having worn glasses all the time for 40 odd years I keep forgetting & go to walk about & wonder why its like being on a boat !! There are people far worse off than me so I must just get on with it & think of the New Year with new eyes & all will be good.
Have a good week, no doubt you are counting the days until your flight home xx

    Hello Grace
I think most, if not all, of us feel out of control at the moment. As a very dear friend always said…….If you can’t change it you just have to go with it! And that is very true No point wasting time and energy trying to change something you can’t change.
Congratulations to everyone showcased today, especially my friends from the East Northants Groovi Group.
    Love
    Roz.xxx

Hi Grace, I know exactly what you mean, I feel the same, I don’t seem to have any confidence, I am anxious about anything and everything, in fact I am like a hermit, even though I have been double vaccinated and also had my Booster, I still don’t want to risk being in close proximity to anyone other than my hubby, and this could be a problem that is going to be hard to change in my case.
As always, stunning artwork shown, fabulous inspiration.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

    Hi Grace
What beautiful cards. Anyone receiving one of these would know they were truly special to the person who made it.
Keep up the good work on the diet front…I’m off for a glass of water!

Stunning cards again! I need to join the weight loss group because having tried clothes on and looking like a dogs dinner I have to accept that it’s my body and not the clothes that are at fault 😀.

Thanks once again for a wonderful selection of artwork Grace, I’m really chuffed you thought my card was worthy of showcasing. However, a heads up must go to your Mum and the Clarity team for giving us such fantastic items to play with!!!! I just love the trees and their mantles stamps – the You Tube tutorial was so easy to follow

What a lovely selection. Some good ideas too. I love the card the Pat’s granddaughter has done -truly a crafter in the making.
I’m not joining the Gnome hunt this year as my computer time has to be limited just now (health reasons) and I know the hunt would eat all of my time!! Good luck to those who are entering.
I hope you feel happier soon Grace. Covid hasn’t finished with us yet, sadly., so I just hope you can get back in 3 weeks. I don’t think our PM would dare ‘cancel Christmas’ again this year!!
