Tuesday’s Big Blog

Hi there, avid blog readers. Thanks for joining me on Clarity Matters. Now, there are some pretty sweet Clarity matters to talk to you about today and I’m rather excited to do so.

But first, I thought I’d share a nice happy thing. As you all know it was Valentine’s Day on Sunday, (hands up, who received a lovely little email from a certain craft company on the day)? And, of course, for reasons that we’re far too well aware of by now, the restaurants and venues were all closed when otherwise they might have been a little bit busier than usual. When lovers of all varieties took the initiative to demonstrate fondness and affection for one another. And, I know that a lot of people just didn’t bother this year. And I know that some people never feel like celebrating, for various reasons. But, even though we never really need one, it’s nice to have an excuse to show a little bit of extra love, right? So, my wife had the very sweet idea to bake heart-shaped biscuits and deliver them to our friends who live within walking distance. So that’s what we did. Wifeby baked these delicious little morsels, dipped them in white chocolate with a pink marble effect and we bunched them up in spotty cellophane, tied with a ribbon and a heart-shaped tag attached. And we dropped them off to four families we know. Anyway, there you go. A happy little story to share. My wife is a nice one! Also, those are gluten-free biscuits and they aren’t too crumbly… Great recipe.

Wifeby’s gluten-free, heart-shaped, marble effect white chocolate, Valentine’s biscuits!

Alright, that’s enough of that. Time to get down to business. Biscuits are great chit-chat but really, what you want to know is what’s coming up this week… And, quite frankly, there is some really cool stuff coming up.

Firstly, we’ve got the Pergamano Show on HOCHANDA this Thursday. As usual, the Pergamano show aims to teach and educate, helping you to grow in your love for and knowledge of this beautiful art form. Featuring the launch of our brand new Plate Mate for Groovi Grids, Barb and Paul will guide you through the amazing benefits this new Plate Mate offers and showcase how useful it is for enhancing your grid work. It’s a Plate Mate for A5 square sized Groovi Grids. So, to demonstrate the benefits of the brand new Plate Mate, we’re bringing along our Kings and Queens’ Grid Duet Plates for the ride. Combined with the new Plate Mate, the creative potential is massive and we can’t wait to show off the artwork and projects!

So, please do join Barb and Paul at 11am and 3pm this Thursday. You’ll absolutely enjoy it

Secondly, we’re excited to announce the next ‘A Moment of Clarity’. We were thrilled with the amazing response to the premiere last month, and so a second episode was inevitable!

Please do join Barbara Gray on Friday 19th February at 3pm. Barb will be launching Holland inspired Windmill and Button designs from the Clarity SHAC Shack. The designs will be available in stamp and Groovi versions and Barb will be showcasing their brilliance through live demos and incredible artwork inspiration.

It’s really quite something, isn’t it? And, I know it looks a little daunting at first glance, even if a little spectacular, but gaze a little longer and you’ll begin to notice the staggering potential and creative freedom this Plate Mate will allow you as a keen parcher. The gridwork alphabet is a particularly useful addition and brings gridwork right into the mainstream so to speak and allows gridwork to feature as the main design component of your parchment crafting and we’re super excited for it!

We do hope to see you there, and, if you’ve ordered the products already, you’ll be able to craft-along live with Barb, too! If you click here, you can purchase these elegant new designs in your preferred format. They might not arrive in time for Friday (but you never know) but you’ll have them nice and quickly after watching and will be able to indulge your newly inspired creativity nice and quickly!

Well, if that’s not enough to get those creative juices flowing, I don’t know what is?! And we do hope you’re as excited as we are.

Lastly, just before I go, for a little bit of fun, I thought we’d run a little poll. (Not a competition, I’m afraid). It may or may not have passed you by, the fact that today is shrove-stu’s-day, or pankate day, as we call it in our house. So, which is your favourite type of pankate, I err mean, pancake?! The fluffy American style, or the wide flat crepe style? Quite frankly, I can’t decide. They both work well as gluten-free, just depends on the day. Anyway, pick your answer below, and it will be fun to see which one wins, right?

Do you prefer flat or fluffy pancakes?

Well, by for now. Stuart!

What a nice idea to give something homemade and personal away. I ignore St V for a number of reasons:- as with Mother’s Day etc you shouldn’t need a special day to show someone you care, like most things it has got v commercial, much better to show you care in a more personal way and just to top it off I was made redundant the first time on 12 Feb 2020 in a none to pleasant way!
So well done to the two of you showing that you are in a none commercial and personal way.

    Hello Stuart
When we were children my father always made ‘drop scones’, small thicker pancakes. For my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren I make Scottish crumpets from a recipe in a small Scottish recipe book I have had for years and years. Similar to drop scones but with cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda added to make them more fluffy. I never made English pancakes because, with four children, I couldn’t keep up with the speed they ate them. I could cook four at a time of the crumpets! this made life a lot easier, lol.
    Love

What lovely looking biscuits, I’ve just go a cuppa and could do with one of those although the waist says otherwise! I’ve had to go for crepe pancake as I haven’t had an American one. Forgot it was pancake day, always got the ingredients though !

Another plate mate ! I’ve just bought the one that goes with the ribbon plates, looks like I’ll be getting another ! Need to check if I’ve got the Kings plates ….

    Enjoy your pancakes ! X

Those biscuits look scrummy – any chance you could get your wife to share the recipe as it would appear there are a number of us on here already that are gluten free & a tried & tested recipe is better than just choosing one out of a recipe book.
The new plate plate mate looks very interesting & I still have my email voucher to use – thank you Clarity. I have already ordered the windmill set ready for Friday so looking forward to both shows.
Thanks Stuart for another great update & as to the pancakes – I chose the flat crepe style but to be honest either would do me but then would it be lemon & sugar or syrup & cream – decisions, decisions !!

What a lovely thought -would your wife be willing to share her recipe as I have dear friend who sadly has dementia and also coeliac disease so needs gluten free food. I’d love to make her some biscuits as a surprise.
Having (flat) pancakes in about half an hour! Trad sugar and lemon, no frills!
    Thanks for a great blog.
