Friends!

Hello hello! Grace here.

I hope you’re all safe & content. That’s all we can ask for at the moment!

I really enjoyed reading all of your comments on what your ‘Hygge’ are.
It’s sometimes just good to sit and actively think about what makes you feel content and happy. We certainly do it the other way around at times!

I picked out one name and am going to send a copy of the book to the lovely Penny Mann 🙂 I’ll be in touch! I hope you enjoy it.

Speaking of books, I have another recommendation for you!

About 8 years ago, in my first year in NYC, I met a young woman called Jen. She was also a ‘struggling actor’. We clicked immediately and fast became friends. After deciding that we weren’t ‘competitors’ with our very different ‘types/looks’ within the industry, we became each others biggest fans!

2014

We spent a lot of time together; helping each other make audition tapes, she helped me move apartments (moving a Queen sized mattress from Manhattan to Queens atop her Suburu), we had lots of evenings together… and she actually was one of few people that knew what was going on in my private life at the time because she lived so close. And she was a very very supportive friend through that.

2017 – Post surgery

But as did mine, her life took some traumatic turns and she ended up suddenly moving to Maine with her beautiful newborn daughter Vivienne 5 years ago.
Once she got back on her feet, she started writing… and inevitably (because she’s so talented) became an author. Her first book was a memoir about what happened in her life (absolute must-read, and became a best seller!) but her second book is a novel. It’s just been released in July. And that’s the book I’d like to recommend!

COVID-19 has dramatically affected sales for so many, authors included! And so, I’m currently telling everyone I know about a brilliantly written book… the author just so happens to be one of my best friends 😉

2016

It is a thriller called SURVIVAL INSTINCTS.
Taking place in the dead of winter in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, SURVIVAL INSTINCTS follows three generations of women who escape for a family vacation to a snow-nestled cabin in the woods, but when they are taken hostage by a dangerous stranger, their idyllic winter getaway turns into a fight for survival. While Survival Instincts is fiction, Jen drew on her personal experience with a psychopathic partner to bring a realistic and thrilling dimension to this psychological thriller.

It’s a fab book, and reading is quite the distraction from what’s going on in the world right now! If you don’t like thrillers yourself… Christmas is just around the corner!

I’ll see you on Friday for our Groovi SHAC gallery! Oh and if you like the beautiful ‘Friends’ cards at the top & bottom of this blog… you can find the stamp set here 🙂 and the Groovi plate here

Lotsa love, Grace xo

I like thrillers and this sounds just up my street. Will get hubby to place an order to add to my Christmas reading stash which I amass to cover me for the 12 days we chill out over the period. Usually have about 7 books from my favourite authors put to one side – it’s one of those times when all I do is read and eat – but I still manage to lose weight – who would have guessed !!!!!
Am avidly crafting at the moment and trying to catch up on the Shac shack on YouTube so busy, busy, busy.
The card is lovely and I have the gear to do it so may give it a try later, time permitting.
    Stay safe, stay well.

Thrillers aren’t my thing, but it’s so GOOD to have such a great friend who’s there watching your back through the good and the bad that life throws at us. Stay safe and well, x

Grace, you are a good friend and I hope she sells lots of books.
    To all,
I hope you don’t mind me suggesting something, but after today’s SHAC demo, I got to wondering (after having difficulty with my tracing paper moving, when I was transferring the pattern) if Barb can organise stencil type templates for different shapes including the hexagons and circles. To achieve the same principal of multiple sizes, so that we can directly draw onto our substrate whichever it might be. I think you could produce it the same as you do the stencils. You could also get on the journaling template wagon, as that is very popular at the moment. Also little animal or bird shapes to draw around. then to doodle or colour in. I think it would work for Clarity, I hope you do to.
    Love to all, Sue
Barb has certainly set everybody off on different tangents and creativity with the SHAC.

It’s good to have a close friend when you are going through tough times. A thriller is not my thing. I used to hide behind a cushion when the music came on for Dr Who and the black and white spiral into another world began!! Lol. No chance with a thriller! That said, the book sounds as if it will be a very powerful read, particularly as it has grown out of personal experience. Hx

I’ve met too many psychopaths to want to read about them. Now she has exorcised her demon, ask her to write about the women and leave the psycho where he deserves to be – ignored. Then I’ll buy it. Or how about a book about Good Friends?

    Hi Grace
Thank you so much for choosing to send a copy of the Hygge book to me. I can’t wait to read it.
How lovely your relationship with your friend Jen is. True friends I think. It is wonderful how you have been there for each other, through thick and thin. Life is never straight forward for most people. There are always ups and downs, and if you are lucky enough to find a friend that you can share things with then hold on to it tightly with both hands and don’t let go.
I Love the way that you are now promoting Jen as an author. I love a good thriller, and I will be keeping my eye out for that one. I have a tendency to put things in a shopping basket and when I have a spare bit of cash, I am able to dip in to my basket and treat myself, and I can see Jen’s books going in my basket for later. Everyone says your mum should write a book, and I can see people saying the same about you too, you both have that fluid way of writing that makes for easy and comfortable reading.
Once again, thank you for my prize. ( I don’t mind a second hand copy of the book if it is cheaper for you).
    Love & Hugs
    Penny
