Day-trip 3: Africa

Gooooooood morning. Steven and Stuart here, and we’ll be your tour guides on our day-trip tooooo… AFRICA! Binoculars at the ready, we might see some animals on this Safari!

But first, just while we’re all getting ready, let’s enjoy a few New Mexico pictures our fellow day-trippers have sent in for us. It’s great to share. So encouraging to see what everyone else has been up to. If you’d like to share any of your own Africa doodles, please do send them in to gallery@claritystamp.com and we will post them in tomorrows blog, just before the next adventure!

Right, on with the day-trip. Africa, here we come. Get your free download of the African family for practising, and let’s work through the playlists.

Download the template here!

The links to the playlists on Facebook and YouTube are below. There were some good techniques to learn in this one, I remember. In particular, the perspective on the sign that jutted out from the frame. Perspective can be tricky, so it’s well worth a re-watch of that bit, following Barb’s instructions closely. Kasalaama, I think it read. And Hakuna Matata, too, at one point. What did you all write in your signs?

And don’t forget to send in your African doodles when you’re done. Gallery@claritystamp.com is the address. Don’t forget to leave your name. And I’ll put your Africa pics in tomorrow’s blog. Everyone loves to see these, so please don’t be shy. Whether you think your design is good, bad or indifferent, it will be a joy and an encouragement for everyone else to see it.

Shop here

Ahh yes, and we also have some pretty sweet souvenirs in the shop today. African art and imagery is something Barb really loves a lot, so we’ve got quite a few items that really help to set the scene. From animal print stencils to iconic silhouette stamps including a set with a rather striking Acacia tree, there are some great things here to complement your African doodles.

Lastly, it’s time to announce yesterday’s competition winner. Sorry to keep you waiting on that. We just like to tease…

Congratulations to Sarah Wrightson

You correctly guessed that Acome Pueblo is also called Sky City! Well done to everyone else who guessed correctly. If you ping your address over to gallery@claritystamp.com or PM the Clarity FB page, we’ll pop your prize in the post to you. How does a set of Micron Pens sound – to help with all the doodling?

Well, enjoy the day-trip. Steve and I will be hanging around. Ask your questions, write your comments and well catch up a bit later!

Loved our week in Africa. When I look at the picture I made I can hardly believe it was all my own work. Thank you Barbara for being such a good patient tutor

Well done Sarah. I enjoyed Africa but it was certainly a challenge, all was going well until I coloured in the wrong part on the girl. Oh well, all good practice.
Lovely pictures, the scenes are very taunting.

I lost my way in Africa and haven’t really caught up yet, but I so intend to! I’d loved every minute of the Shac-shac doodling sessions up until the beginning of May, and I had really been looking forward to learning how to colour the postcards, but May brought devastation to my family and I lost all focus. I an so grateful that all the sessions are available on catch-up and I will find my way back, I’m sure. Big thanks to Barbara and the Clarity team

    Well done Sarah.
I loved being in Africa. The perspective was a difficult one to get right, used a LOT of my eraser that day! But thanks to Barbara I carried on and I’m happy with my doodle even if my warrior has big feet.
