Day-trip 2: New Mexico
Good morning, all! Stuart and Steven here and we’re about to set off on our new day-trip – NEW MEXICO!
Before we all set off to New Mexico, let’s pause to appreciate some Japanese artwork by our fellow day-trippers. Sorry to whoever Bigg Benn is, you didn’t leave your name when you emailed me. But if you let me know, I’ll change that right over. Sorry, I should have asked 😳!
Anyway, back to business. New Mexico here we come. Re-live the trip using the links below, and do comment on the blog your favourite part of the New Mexico doodle – we’d all love to know. I really enjoyed the long road Barb put into the scene, with all those ups and downs into the horizon. I also really enjoyed learning about the Acoma Pueblo; that Native American village on top of the hillside. Fascinating.
Competition time
Acoma Pueblo had a really cool nickname, too, didn’t it? Can anyone remember it for me? Write your answers in the comments below and I’ve got a little prize for one lucky person who gets it right. I’ll announce the winner in tomorrows post, so be quick with those answers.
You can watch the videos in the playlists we’ve made on Facebook and YouTube – whatever is your preference.

And don’t forget to visit the Souvenir Shop on your way out. We have a few really cool, Native American themed designs. Just click the link in each image below to shop!

If a souvenir doesn’t take your fancy, do be sure to collect your free day-trip template of the dreamcatcher. It’s a nice little memento, and also really useful because circles are hard to draw by hand!
And, as usual, please do send in your New Mexico doodles to gallery@claritystamp.com. We’d love to see them if you’re willing to share them. We’ll post any we get today in tomorrow’s post!
As usual, Steven and I are here all day to keep you company. Comment on the blog or on Facebook and we’ll respond when we can. We do love a good natter!
So, we’ll leave you to enjoy your New Mexico day trip.
See you later.
Stuart and Steven!

Sky City is the alternative name for Acoma Pueblo. Was a fabulous journey Barbara took us on…learnt so much about New Mexico…it even inspired me to make a dream catcher as a birthday present for a relative to go with a matching card done like we did in that lesson! Brilliant xx

New Mexico was my favourite place to go with Barbara. I just loved the dreamcatcher and the indian connections.

Hi there, Sky City is the nickname. I need to go back to New Mexico soon as I have unfinished business! That was a fantastic trip. Really interesting.
Acoma Pueblo is known as Sky City today because of its position on top of the mountains.
It’s nice to look back on where we have been over the last 14 weeks, love all the tales & snippets of information about the place that Barbara gives us as we doodle with the added extra of tears & laughter x
Interesting, thank you. Must go, catch up on jobs I promised myself Would get done in lock down. Art is much more fun! There is a poem it goes: dust if you must but wouldn’t it be better, to do(something , can’t remember)… or write a letter. Anybody remember it, or shall I write my own version??
Here is the poem. I’m not usually one for poetry, but I like this one.
Dust If You Must
by Rose Milligan
Dust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there’s not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.
Nice sentiment! Although, admittedly, a little off putting for someone with a pretty severe dust allergy!

So appropriate.

That was a dream week, loving our travels especially as I have never been that far abroad before. Best bit, no washing and ironing on the return home lol. Just pure enjoyment.
Love and blessings all x
Sky City, what a wonderful week that was, so enjoyed it and the geography lesson, Barbara makes it all so interesting. never been so far. Oh dear that could be a fib, if so I’m sorry, our Son got married in the Caribbean and of course we were there.
I loved learning to draw feathers… although they did look like carrots for a while! Looking forward to getting back to the Shack, I get too easily distracted when I haven’t got a focus (I have so many projects on the go now…). Thanks for trip back through the weeks.

The answer is Sky City.
I think the New Mexico week was the most eye opening for me, how a couple of wobbly lines and some shading became a mountain on a canyon. It was amazing. Thank you.
Loved the New Mexico week. It was fascinating because Barbara knew it intimately and could pass on so much ‘insider’ knowledge as well as funny stories (remember the snake??).It was the first doodle I felt really pleased with too!!
