Feeling Blue

Hi there, everyone, it’s Sunday and I’m feeling blue. Nope, I don’t mean downcast. I mean literally, blue.

You could say that at Clarity we like the colour blue. It is, of course, our corporate colour, used in our logo. And of course, our website is many shades of blue. Hands up (or leave a comment), whose favourite colour is blue? I’m not sure if it’s my favourite colour, to be honest, I find it hard to choose – they are all so great. But it does have a strong appeal to nature with the sea and the sky. Not actually blue, of course, (that’s another lecture in and of itself because what we see as blue is probably not blue at the compound level but appears blue at what’s called the structural level) but they certainly appear blue. And it makes the heart happy to see blue with because of those associations with the sea and sky.

Blue is particularly fascinating in the art world, also. There are very few true blue pigments out there – which is why it used to be very expensive and highly sought after. And, as my wife informs me, is why the Virgin Mary is often standing out in bright ultramarine when portrayed in oil – back in the times when the Roman Church ruled the art world.

You can read a really cool article about the colour blue here: https://www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-a-brief-history-of-blue it’s not long and a really fun read.

With that in mind, I thought I’d throw a little competition in celebration of the colour blue! I’d LOVE it if you could send me in any artwork you’ve done that is primarily blue in colour. You can either post a pic in the comments below, or you can email me at the usual place: gallery@claritystamp.com.

I’ll give you all just over a week to get your artwork to me, and I will announce the winners on MONDAY the 28th September. Sound good?

I’ll enlist the help of my esteemed colleagues in the office to pick three winning designs – 1st, 2nd and 3rd – to receive a blue themed prize.

1st prize will be a pack of Antarctica Designer Card.

2nd prize will be a pack of Two-Tone Blue A4 parchment.

3rd prize will be a Clarity Felt Portfolio Bag, in blue, of course!

Alright, I hope I’ve added a little spark of excitement into your Sunday. But there’s just one more thing to say: SHAC is BACK. That’s right, Barb has spent the past week caring for her mum after her hip op (which I believe was a success). So, we’ll see you at 10am tomorrow, live on our Facebook page.

Well, that’ll be all from me then. Hope you’re not feeling too blue. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, and don’t forget to send those ‘blue’ projects in for a chance to win.

Bye 🙂

I love the colour blue, so many shades and such a clean colour.
It will be good to see Barbara back in the SHAC but I will be late to the party as I have an appointment to keep.
Enjoy the rest of the day

Blues aren’t my favourite colour since it’s the colour of my work uniform!
I prefer the autumnal colours instead, but appreciate blues do add something to them to.
Looking forward to the return of the SHAC and Barbara, I’ve done what Barbara said and have gone back and repeated some of the doodles, the fishy underwater one in particular and braved doing it with watercolour paint too. So happy with the finished artwork.

I think I prefer the autumnal colours although at the moment I am all in blue. Blue is my Mom’s favourite colour, a fact I found out shortly before her 90 birthday when I was asking random questions about her so I could theme the party around the answer. Hard to believe it was nearly 2 years ago and as it stands at the moment a party would have been a non starter.
Great idea for a competition- will get my thinking cap on

I love blue and wear it most days, have it in duvet covers etc. I make blue cards but find they don’t sell as well except at Christmas. Odd when it is so much part of the landscape. I use them all the time. To me it is the colour of freedom.

Mostly blue is for sure easiest for me to do as it has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember. Cobalt blue is my absolute favorite of all the blues.

I love blue from the palest aqua to the deepest navy. At one time most of my wardrobe was blue but as I have aged so the colors now range across the sectrum. For card making I have sessions in a particular colour range, then change it around when I get bored. I like the greens and autumnal colours too but anything in pastel shades really gets my mojo working so your pastel shades of parchment get a real workout.
Glad Barb is back, I follow her on YouTube as my mornings are randomly busy and I like to be able to relax and concentrate on what she is doing. This last week has been a good time to catch up on some past posts.
    Stay Safe.

SO glad the op was a success! Phew. Looking forward to catching up on the shac shack.
I’m often seen wearing blue but to be honest my favourite colours are in the lilac/purple spectrum which I suppose is of the blue family.

Clarity blue? Well to tell the truth I never thought of the page (apart from the logo) as being blue at all…more a medley of turquoise, lilac, pinks into cream….no, not particularly blue at all. So pleased that Barbara’s mother has come through the operation well and looking forward to seeing her again in the shack. That’s me being completely selfish because I know that in her shoes I’d be another week away with my parents, helping out as best I could the people in my life I know through the law of nature are going first and I’m going to miss most. Hindsight maybe but true nonetheless. Blue…the background of life!

Blue is my favourite colour, always has been and always will be….I think it subliminally is because my mother was convinced during her pregnancy that I (her 1st born) was going to be a boy and so she only prepared blue clothing for me! All my school uniforms happened to be blue too and as a child I supported Chelsea FC! My favourite birds are Kingfishers & Peacocks and my favourite tropical fish are the Discus and Electric Blue Malawi Cichlids and my husband and children all have blue eyes too!😄 I have 2 blue projects to share with you which I will email to you on the gallery@clarity address later!

Blue is my favourite colour and I think it suits me clothes wise, I really do like lilac as well but it doesn’t seem to be very popular now in clothes these days. I tend to use pastel colours for a lot my cards. Really good news that Barbara will be back tomorrow at the Shack Shac, also that her Mum is home and doing ok. I will see if I have any cards I have made in blue to post in the week.x

I love blue of most hues but in my wardrobe I tend to mix it up a bit. My husband on the other hand almost always wears blue! Glad Barbara’s Mum’s hip op went well and looking forward to getting back to the shac shack this morning.

Blue is my favourite colour. Always has been but I’ve made a conscious effort over the last few years not to buy only blue clothes!

I love blue, in all its shades, from the palest, through aqua and teal, to deepest navy. I find it particularly good for male cards, which are always a challenge! So much of my wardrobe is blue too, especially beautiful cobalt, but perhaps having blue eyes is the trigger there. X

Blue was always my favourite colour but nowadays I prefer purple and pink (hence my hair colour!)
I have thoroughly enjoyed creating a blue card today. It is a very tranquil scene for my daughter and her partner who have got virtually no sleep for the past 6 weeks since they picked up a miniature daschund puppy. They are at their wits end with little Charlie so I hope the card will give them a peaceful moment!
I can’t add it here so will email you a pic.
    Take care
