A Sharing Saturday…

How is your weekend treating you?
Ours is pretty low key… we’re in quarantine after last week. So I’m looking back at better days!
Saturday’s are for sharing, right? So not only have I got a selection of your artwork that jumped out at me this week, but I also had some memories pop up on my Facebook feed that I want to share!
4 years ago I was visiting England for some much needed TLC and family time. My Mum suggested that we go to the Hampton Court Flower Show together. “Let’s do it!”
Though I’d never been to the Flower Show before, I vividly remember going to Hampton Court on a school trip when I was in Primary School. Couldn’t have been more than 10. And as soon as we got off the bus, they gave us all jobs/positions; Kitchen Maids, Shoe Shiners, Cooks, Stableboys etc.
I found myself dressed up as a 16th century kitchen wench with a bonnet on my head! I remember being taught how to fold napkins into fancy things, like the Bishop’s Hat…
I obviously got a taste for it because I went on to learn even more tricks of the trade a few years later on a holiday in the Maldives. I asked a waiter how he folded the napkins to look like a water lily. He patiently taught me every move in silence because neither of spoke each others language. I was about 14.
And guess who still folds the napkins for all family events? Haha! I’ll have to learn some more. Know of any gooduns?
But anyway, when my Mum and I went to Hampton Court… it was less child-labour and more… BEAUTIFUL!

I remember it like it was yesterday to be honest. Lovely day. I very much look forward to another Mum & daughter day like this! I’d take a trip to Waitrose at this stage hahaha!
A little walk down memory lane. I hope you’re doing the same. I’m finding a new appreciation for all my old photos, stories and memories.

We had planned to take our dream trip to England this June. Hampton Court was at the top of both of our lists of places to visit. We are hoping for next year. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Thank you for sharing your pictures Grace. Hampton Court Flower Show is a favourite of mine, I would have been there this year. I much prefer it to Chelsea Flower Show. Your selection of cards is fantastic as ever. Keep safe.
Thanks for all the sharing, Grace – all sorts are interesting. Hampton is cancelled but the Chelsea Flower Show was online – and still is, if you missed it. Something to go out to from isolation? The Royal Albert Hall is online too, some classical but most not, varying quality but all interesting. It amazes me what people are managing from home. The cards are always wonderful. We are so lucky to have such skilled and generous people in the Clarity family. Kathleen – when you get to Hampton Court, look up as the chimneys are astonishing but the guides don’t tell you.
It looks like a great day out Grace. Hope quarantine goes by smoothly. I have made 4 quarantine quickie tags for my third book ring today. 82/100 down only 18 to go.
Thank you for those photos Grace. Reminded me of a trip to the flower show I took with my mother, before the Alzheimer’s. I remember how much my feet hurt at the end of the day, it was wonderful.
It was lovely to see your photos. You both look so happy. Can’t believe there were only two of you in for afternoon tea!!! I would love to go to go the Hampton Flower Show some time. Maybe one day. Lovely choice of cards again. Have a good weekend. Hx

Beautiful cards again Grace. Lovely memories you have of day outs with your Mum, a treasure trove. I did do some serviette folding a few years ago but at the moment I’ve quite forgotten. Wasn’t as complicated as that water lily though.xx
Thank you for choosing my card. We also had an amazing waiter in the Maldives who made amazing shapes and animals with the napkins at every meal. My favourite was the stingray, goodness knows how he did it!
I love Hampton Court. We live fairly close to there and live visiting.

What lovely memories- thanks for sharing x Loved your tales of napkin folding which reminded me of my sister on a Nile cruise. She spent so much of the trip learning different napkin folds from the waiter rather than looking at the sights! 😂
