Salty Air and Corsets

Well, good morning, friends. Stuart here, with Monday’s Clarity Matters blog post.

What did you get up to this weekend?

My family was feeling a little restless on Saturday morning so I shipped them all off to the beach. Not a big sandy, sunbathing beach, but the type of beach that will blow the cobwebs away in an instant. It was cracking. Windy but not cold, intermittent rain and huge expansive peat hills that lead to crumbling chalk cliffs and invigorating salty air. I wonder if you can guess where about in the country I live? We went to this little spot that we’d not precisely been to before. We found this tiny section of beach which was just a solid chalk wave-cut platform, covered in boulders and a steep set of concrete steps that has begun to wear away at the bottom. Man, I loved that.

*Competition Time*

Just across from the bit of shore we stood on, you could see one of the south’s most iconic landmarks. AND, if anyone can tell me the name of the landmark in question, I’ll put your name into a prize draw to win a little Claritystamp set we have that is rather reminiscent! Simply leave a comment on this post with the correct answer and you’ll be in for a chance to win! You can just about count the peaks in the photo below, and the number of them might help you figure it out! But I’ll say no more, don’t want to make it too easy 😉

I’ll pick and announce the winner next Monday (6th July) so you’ve got a week to try and figure this one out!

Name the landmark in the distance and comment to be in for a chance to win. And yes, they are my children… One boy and one sister!

Oh yes, and before I forget, we’ve also got a load of brilliant TV shows coming up. It’s a brand new month (again, blimey)! We get things underway for July, as usual, with the Pergamano Show followed by a blockbuster of a One Day Special, with Barbara’s 2-hour craft-tacular nestled nicely in between.

Firstly, we’ll be revisiting Tina’s perfect little Parchelts. They are such a brilliant idea because they give you a lot of pattern and design potential in a small amount of space, and lots of freedom to be creative when you want to work on a smaller scale, of if you don’t want to be limited by a larger design!

In that wonderful 2-4pm show on Sunday, Barbara is back with the new Feminine Corset design in stamp and Groovi. It has that dressmaker/haberdasher/shabby-chic look to them and just a little bit saucy! And, as always, this is the show when Barbara loosens the reigns and really enjoys being her inspirational, creative self. So tune in to see what’s in store.

And finally, we’ve got the first One Day Special of the month and we’ll be launching Linda’s In The Garden collection of designs in stamp format. Originally released say groove Plates on various Pergamano Shows over the past few months, not these exquisitely detailed designs will be available as elegant Claritystamps. There are 9 designs in the collection, each design including several related components suitable for putting together your garden design. There is almost limitless potential with the number of individual stamps you get across the entire collection, so it’s worth tuning in to as many of the shows as you can in order to see what Barbara and Paul will be getting up to project-wise.

Well, that’ll do from me. Clarity Matters. It really does.

Stuart

I just won a competition so I’ll leave this for others to enter – I live closer to the five sisters of kintail up here! Just wanted to say the corset stamp was my first ever Claritystamp. I saw Barbara use it with fusible fibres and I was in complete awe! It definitely wasn’t my last purchase 😂

This is the Seven Sisters. When our children were small we used to visit Eastbourne and we would walk over Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. Frightened me to death at Beachy Head as there were no fences and you know what little ones are like. Fortunately we all got home in one piece.

I too think it’s the Seven Sisters part of the South Downs National Park. Initially I thought it might be The Needles because of the blog title but it wouldn’t have made sense you living on the Isle of Wight and having so far to travel to work so then had to look further East and on the mainland and it really makes sense to be The Seven Sisters.
You really need a deserted beach like that to blow away the cobŵebs don’t you and the kids look like they are having great fun. One for the memory box x

Hi Stuart, sounds like you had great family outing – much more sensible (and enjoyable) than a trip to Bournemouth!
I could only think of one iconic landmark (the one that was immortalised in the song by Dame Vera!) but your clue about counting the peaks didn’t make sense so I’ll confess to a bit of googling to discover The Seven Sisters – looks like a lovely place.

Seven sisters. Many years ago walked them. No shade. It was hot. Couldn’t do it now. It is a very lovely area.

I think it’s the white cliffs of Dover -though, as I live in Kent and should know, it really doesn’t quite look right, so I suspect it isn’t right. But as I have no other clue I’ll stick with that!!

Landmark is The Seven Sisters, a beautiful part of the coast. Great you found the beach and the youngsters could have a wonderful time exploring. It beats the crowds of Bournemouth any day.

Can’t wait to see the sea again, being in Oxford we’re just about the furthest away from it. Would have been on it at start of June on a cruise ! Lovely pic and it looks like The Seven Sisters. Glad you blew the cobwebs away, I did that just on a walk today! X

Hello Stuart, a great place to go for some fresh air and stunning views. The Seven sisters Chalk Cliffs, said to be quite a sight viewed from the sea. There are so many iconic places that I have yet to visit in this country, and this is one of them. Good luck for the draw everyone. Bx

I think the view is Seven Sisters in Sussex on the South Downs. I think you and the children are standing on the beach at Seaford or Cuckmere Haven.

The Seven Sisters, the white cliffs of Dover, as sung by the recently departed Vera Lynn, to welcome our airmen home in World War II. What a sight to behold
