Words Are Important

Hello! Grace here.

I’m really quite enjoying blogging to you a few days a week. All of your gorgeous comments, feedback and insight keep me going. It isn’t easy! I don’t know HOW my Mum does it every. single. day. Really, it’s hard! Especially when you’re like us and want to make it ‘100%’ every time! Even two times a week can be daunting some weeks…

ha! I’ve been waiting to share this pic!

Well, now I’m blogging thrice a week! And moving forward, to make more room for Youtube Tuesdays, my blogs are moving to Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 🙂 Got that?

Okay, so I have to tell you a funny story. I wasn’t sure if I could share it with you…

…But my Mum gave me verbal permission! Ha!

On Monday I took a 20 minute afternoon break to call my Oma & Grandad. One of my favorite things to do. I often call them, and they light up my day, without realizing it. But this time I got more than I bargained for!

My Grandad always answers the phone first, and we’ll catch up on things; the news, the weather, each others health etc. He’ll share some UK COVID19 updates with me, and I’ll tell him what’s going on here in NY.

So, he starts giving me updates on Boris… (imagine Michael Caines accent)

———————–

GRANDAD: Yeah well, Boris, not looking good is it? He’s been moved to the ICU!

ME: I’d just heard that actually. That’s terrible news, Grandad.

GRANDAD: Yep, not sure what that means for him exactly. But he’s in the intensive care unit, yeah. He’s not on the vibrator though. Just the oxygen.

*MOMENT OF LONG SILENCE*

ME: Grandad, I think you mean a ventilator.

*EVEN LONGER MOMENT OF SILENCE*

GRANDDAD: *Starts wheezing with laughter*

ME: That wouldn’t do you much good would it!

Anyway, we tried to continue to have a normal conversation but I couldn’t stop laughing. He eventually gave up and handed the phone to my Oma (German for Grandmother). She always sits next to him and grabs at the phone so she can have her turn.

After about 10 minutes of normal catch up and conversation with her (I’d decided not to bring up Grandads faux pas, incase it was inappropriate for her!)…

ME: Yeah, there’s a lot going on right now, Oma. As long as you two are doing ok..

OMA: Vell, I heard Johns little slip up.

*IMMEDIATE HYSTERICAL CACKLING ENSUES FROM US BOTH*

OMA: (yells at Grandad) If zat vere ze case John, ve would be running to ze hospital!

———————-

Well… I just about lost it! I couldn’t come back from that. How’s that for a Monday afternoon?

It is good to laugh, especially when you can’t do too much else. Thanks for that one Grandad, it’s lasted me DAYS.

Meanwhile, we’ve all been doodling away! And our facebook groups Clarity Worldwide and Groovi Worldwide are growing quickly! It’s lovely to be a part of it.

I spent the first few days doodling with a standard whatever pen, and though it worked fine, I decided to put in an order for myself for some micron pens and they turned up last Friday! I promise you that I’m not being selly. They just make SUCH a difference. And now I want to doodle on everything!

If you have missed any daily doodles, or want to catch up on any, they are ALL available here.

And don’t forget… if you have any queries, Jeannine and I take it in turns to hang around on the Clarity website, in case you want to ask any questions or just need some company 🙂

Be safe! Be calm.

Lotsa Love, Grace xoxo

That was a korker Grace still smiling when I think of it. Your Grandparents are great. Went shopping about an hour ago thinking it would be quiet at Tesco but the queue was huge so decided to see what we could get in Iceland as no queue there. Mistake that was, couldn’t get a quarter of what we needed so have to brave it again. The week before last we went 8.30 at night, no queue got most things except no potatoes and not very much veg. Last week thought we’d go a bit earlier
queues this time. The first week of lock down we went at 8 am was supposed to be for our age group over 70’s disabled etc. It was packed and hardly anything on the shelves. It is so frustrating. We don’t want to keep going out but there is no alternative. Sorry for the rant Grace. On a happier note, so enjoying your Mum’s doodling sessions in the mornings. Loving your blogs Grace. Stay well and safe.xxx

Grace you are doing a great job with the blog posts. You really are your Mum’s daughter, not that I ever doubted it ! As you say, words are important, perhaps more so now than ever before.
As for John’s verbal slip up, brilliant, as was Hilma’s response.
    Stay well, Stay safe……x Dv.

Thank you Grace for giving me the giggles, nearly wet myself. 🤣 Had to go to the loo before I could reply and I’m still giggling. Glad Barb let you post this.
To say we are now grounded in this lockdown is an understatement. We got the letter from our Doctor today with the measures we must take to stay safe (hubby is on the very high risk list) – horrors – it was four pages long.
So once again Grace and Oma for putting a smile on our faces.
    Love and hugs 🍒

    Hello Grace

Oh, that made me laugh. Brilliant. I had a delivery from Clarity today with a personal note from your mum on the invoice. I was so touched she had taken time to do that.

    Stay safe,
    Love

This is the most wonderful firm to deal with. I had to read it twice to get it straight. Then I laughed. You and your Mum do write wonderful blogs. I can’t walk very well due to a trapped sciatic nerve, but found it was possible to kneel, so have been weeding in the garden. Gardening, and crafting with marvelous tools from clarity, make every day good. I have had trouble getting the beginning of the morning doodle. But catch up later. Keep safe. Xx

One simple comment – THANK YOU SO MUCH – both you and your mum have me and my hubby laughing out loud on a regular basis with the lovely family stories you share. Cannot do the ‘shack’ live but always catch up on youtube when I get the link; part of my daily routine now.

Like Mary said above, I read but don’t comment …but just couldn’t resist tonight. I too have had tears running down my face and unable to talk for quite a few minutes. Oh how we need a good laugh these days. What a wonderful story and what a lovely family, thank you for sharing. Barbara, last week I couldn’t draw freehand and now look at me – I can doodle! (Well sort of!). Thank you for your blogs and your generosity in sharing your craft. Grace, you are as funny and as kind as your mum. Clarity – you are all wonderful.

    Hi Grace.
I have tears running down my face from laughing. There’s you trying not to tell your Oma what grandad had said and all along she knew and then said that… I can just imagine her saying it and you not knowing where to put yourself.
You stay safe and enjoy your evening! X

Thanks for sharing your tale of the phone call to your grandparents – it made me giggle as it is the sort of thing my mom would do. I look forward to reading your blogs on your new days.
Stay safe & well – our lockdown looks to be continuing for some weeks yet as a letter received by my daughter today from her doctor said for her & my eldest granddaughter to stay indoors in isolation for the next 12 weeks – they have already been doing so for the last 3 weeks. I have got the younger granddaughter into the doodling so that is keeping her occupied. We have been outside tonight clapping for the NHS & other key workers – you could hear the clapping way into the distance !!
