Sharing is Caring!

Hello hello! Grace here.

I hope you’re well. How are you? No, but actually… how are you?

It’s one day at a time over here. Not for any particular reason… but the world opening up again is quite the shift for many of us, isn’t it?
Each day brings its own set of challenges and highlights. I’m trying to remind myself to just go with the flow of it all. Not get rocked or thrown off by the small and unimportant things. Just get through the ‘to-do list’ of things that need sorting that day, but also try to be present and enjoy the day for what it is, regardless of what comes my way.
Because we just don’t know what tomorrow will bring. And we can’t get back yesterday…

Balance, basically.

^^^ That, but for your mental and emotional wellbeing. Some people meditate, some exercise, some craft or do other hobbies that help slow the mind. But it’s all creating a sense of balance in the end. So that when something bad does happen (which is inevitable) you’re better mentally and emotionally equipped to not fly off the handle, or react in a way that causes further damage. Because you’re actively practicing slowing your racing mind and reactions, building good/calmer habits.
Some people are better at that than others. I’m not so natural at the not freaking out part, so it’s something that I work on.

I think that’s why so many of us craft. To slow down and get present, find our feet and get grounded. If we slow down, and practice the art of slowing down regularly, we’re less likely to react quickly or irrationally to things that come our way. Makes sense to me!

I’ve not been doing enough of this lately, and can feel my reactions becoming more heightened. If you can feel that yourself too, what could you do to slow yourself down? To rebalance yourself?

Perhaps gardening does it for you. Or going for walks *ahem* Mum). Or reading. Or perhaps getting with your hands and creating beautiful cards gives you some sort of Clarity? See what I did there?! πŸ˜‰
Whatever it is, reach for it. As the world starts to reopen, let’s not forget what kept us sane thus far, and before it all started. Reach for the things that keep you grounded, balanced and happy.

I found some stunning cards this week (shocker!) that I’d love to share with you…

Gracie Carter (Rebecca Carters granddaughter)

What an exceptional collection of work! Well, not ‘work’. ART! What an exceptional collection of art. I’m sure we’re all impressed by the variety and range too. I had to add Miss Gracie to the group as well, look at her brilliant SHAC SHACK drawing, of the House That Barb Built. Not to mention her glowing face. I hope we can all feel as proud of ourselves and what we create, as beautiful Gracie.

Travel gently!

Lotsa love, Grace xo

Thanks Grace. You have chosen those that I remember from browsing through this week. Lovely little Gracie is doing so well!
My crafting has been seriously interrupted by a most unwelcome eye infection. My goodness, we take so much for granted until things go wrong! I have been in misery street for sure! But ever hopeful it will improve.
    Enjoy your weekend. Xx

    Hello Grace.

That’s right, one day (or step) at a time. And don’t sweat over what you can’t change, just go with it. Little Gracie’s work is brilliant isn’t it.

    Love

One day at a time works for me, no one knows what tomorrow will bring so why worry about it. Having said that, and being somewhat incapacitated this last week, I made a list of things which needed to be done day by day so I could pace myself. Not a hope in hell of sticking to it thanks to outside interference.
I have therefore given up trying and am going to craft myself silly this weekend.
Inspiring art, I love the variety. Gracie’s charming smile and drawing were guaranteed inclusion here.
    Stay safe.

    Lovely Grace,
Another great blog entry, and how about Gracie’s fantastic drawing!! I always empathise with your thoughts – you are very much your mother’s daughter (in the nicest possible way, of course!). Hope you’re settling into your new home and keeping safe x

The joy on that little girl’s face is priceless! When did we lose that as adults, I wonder, and listen to the self critic speaking over and suppressing that joyfulness? X

Hi Grace, I do exercise every day, I also either papercraft or patchwork and quilt, but I so wish that I could balance my mind, no matter how I try I always have a ‘washing machine’ in my head !!
Your pieces of art you show are always beautiful and I love them all, and the look on Gracie’s face says it all, she is so pretty and has created stunning pieces of art, well done all.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Wow Grace, one day at a time is my survival and (pardon the pun) saving grace. Hubby been in hospital 3wks now. A bad stroke leaving him paralysed down one side and all other associated problems. On top of battling a nasty chest infection. Taking it as it comes. It is what it is and I can only travel alongside and hope for the best. Thankful for my crafting, my escapeism, my rock. Some beautiful work on show and little Grace’s face is a joy to see. Love to all. One day at a time. Xxx

Hi Grace, thank you for sharing my card. There are some beautiful art works this week and little Gracie is amazing. One day at a time is the best way to go. Live and enjoy today as you can never tell what the future holds. Being my husbands primary carer and having had to shield since March 2020 crafting has become my life saver and I am so grateful and happy to have joined such wonderful groups of lovely people. Hope you have a lovely weekend and have settled into your new home. Love to you all xx

    Hi Grace,
Just read your blog and all the comments .
We had a busy weekend, our second craft show of the year and this time I was teaching parchment instead of selling. I enjoyed my self immensely and realized afterwards how much I missed interacting with people. As you said: one day at a time and balance. Keep up the good work. Loved watching your mum,s shows while in lockdown and I hope she keeps doing it for as long as she can. Love from Australia.
