Spiders and seasons!

Hi there, everyone. Stuart here. How are you all doing today?

You can tell it’s autumn, can’t you, because the spiders are EVERYWHERE! I’ve found countless numbers of them in my garden. No longer hiding in the shadows, but spinning their webs between any solid objects they can find. They’re taking over. And not just the garden – the house also. Every corner of every ceiling sees a spider find it’s place. And boy have we seen some BIG ones. Fascinating creatures, spiders are. I have no desire to get too close, but still, there is something incredibly fascinating about them, isn’t there? Did you know that spider webs are made of silk which is stronger (proportionately) than steel! Yes, that is silk as you would think of it. Clothing has even been made of spider silk just like other silk, although it took a LOT of spiders to produce enough and a VERY LONG time to produce it. You find out more here.

Anyway, since our spider friends have indicated that the seasons are on the turn, we thought we’d go for a bit of an autumnal theme with our Products of the Month, this month.

https://claritystamp.com/collections/offers

Our Pinetum 3-way Overlay stamp set, Funky Leaves stencil and Fresh Cut, plus our Country Hillside Groovi Plate certainly give a suitably rustic, turn of the season feel!

And each of these beauties is on offer with 33% off for the rest of the month, so why not grab yourself a bargain and see what wondrous creations you can conjure up with them?

Oh, and don’t forget to send us your creations to gallery@claritystamp.com. We LOVE seeing your artwork and we’d love to share it on the blog, too!

And, for a little extra incentive, anyone who sends me in some artwork using any of the above four products to gallery@claritystamp.com – pop your address in the email and I’ll send you out a little surprise in the post 😉 How’s about that? No deadline on that… Just send in a snap of your artwork featuring any of the above and I’ll share it on the blog and send you out a prize.

Thanks for reading everyone. Have a nice day 🙂

Stuart

Thank you for that, Stuart! I hate spiders, lol.

Three of us are having a mini retreat at my house because we missed Ditton and Leyburn. Last night we had two of the most enormous spiders any of us had ever seen. Luckily one of us can calmly pick them up and put them outside!

AAARRRGGGHHHHH hate spiders! That was a real shock seeing that Stuart 😨😜. I have a long handled catcher thank goodness. I do love seeing the webs in the garden all covered in dew drops though – so pretty.

Ugh !!!!!!! Hate them, theyare the only insect I just cannot cope with. Seeing the beginning of this blog gave me the shudders. If they come indoors they go up the vacuum pipe in very short order !!!!!!!!!!

Ahhh love spiders, bar the big furry ones that begin with T and end in a, can’t even say their name. The only living soul I have to kill is house flies, thankfully their season is nearly over.

Not fond of spiders when they suddenly appear in the house but it always amazes me the way they spin their beautiful webs especially when there is dew on them with the sun shining through.

Some spiders bite, so best pick them up in something other than your hand. But it is probably the male spiders you are seeing indoors, coming in search of mates. That will all be over in a few weeks time but fresh conkers near entry points will deter them for now – unless you want a house full of tiny beings…

Great offers by the way, Stuart.

I love them and put them in corners near my wardrobes as we had a lot of clothes moths last year. This year the spiders have kept them right down (we see the carcasses on the floor under the webs) and my friend had carpet moths, also caught in large numbers by spiders (now under control with a spray, which I hate but is necessary) so the spiders are happy with the flies and other insects that invade our home in the midst of woodland. I ‘feed’ them any flies I swat as well! Like others, I find the webs outside, trapping dewdrops, absolutely magical.
