A Day out at the Farm.

Hi there, Steven here.

It feels like it’s been a while since my last blog. Thanks to Stuart for filling in for me on Sunday. That’s the great thing here at Clarity, we can all jump in to help each other – a real team effort, here!

Last weekend I took a trip to the farm. Not too far from me in Lewes, East Sussex, there’s a nice little farm called Blackberry Farm. All the animals you expect to see at the farm were there, ready and eager to be fed by us. One of the animals was so eager, it looked like they were ready to climb over the fence to come and get it.

This was, in fact, the first time my daughter has been to a farm and she loved it! Being only 10 months old, she did her best to communicate with the animals, babbling away and laughing every time we went to give the goats some food.

Everything was going smoothly until this…

Yes, the slide!

My wife decided that it would a good idea to take Freya down this slide. It proved to be the turning point in the day. Standing at the bottom was me thinking, I’m not sure this is a good idea. So off they went. The rest is history. They absolutely flew down this slide, wife screaming and so too was little Freya.

Poor little Freya.

Once they were off the slide, that was it. It became quickly apparent that it was time to go home. It seemed the slide experience was just too much for her to cope with. We had to see the funny side of it, though. By the time we’d got to the car Freya was a cheerful little girl and, thankfully, had forgotten the whole episode. The whole journey home we couldn’t stop laughing about it. To conclude the whole ordeal, it’s safe to safe to stay, we won’t be trying that one again in a hurry.

Ohh, that’s reminded me. If that’s put you in the mood to craft your own farm scene, just last Friday, we added our Wee Farm Animals stamps to the half-price members’ only sale.

All the animals you’d expect to see at the farm are in this great set of mini stamps – all for just £5.00.

If you’ve already got the set and not sure where to start, here’s some artwork to help get your creative juices flowing:

Anyway, that’s it from me today.

Have a lovely day.

Steven

Poor Freya, you will have to get a small slide for the garden so she can get use to the feel at her own pace !! Glad you all enjoyed the farm though, its good to be able to get out & do ”normal” things.
Hope you got a photo for future reference, a scrap book of all the little moments like this to show her when she is older. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, so wish I had done the same for my 2.

A scrapbook is a great idea. Yes we did get a photo, so I’ll get one started.

Well that did make me chuckle! Reminded me of putting my grandson in a swing! He held his breath, then screamed and shook all over! Took a long time before he would go in a swing again!

Oh poor Freya, but that’s a tale to tell her when she’s older. Glad she enjoyed the animals 🙂

Poor Freya! Maybe it was Mum screaming that did for her rather than the slide. Maybe Freya can watch Mum do it first another time. A scrapbook is a great idea. You can decorate round the picture with the Wee Stamps. I think the 12×12 paper for scrapbooks is in the sale now too – unless it has sold out.

I suspect Freya was more upset by mum screaming than the actual slide experience!! Mum must learn not to show her fears LOL. My cousin came over before lockdown and brought a book her mum had kept (she found it after her mum died) and she’d written most days how little Christine was developing. Her first smile, words, steps were all recorded along with funny things she did, what she ate (and refused to eat) and even I was included as the first cousin she met and how I didn’t want anything to do with her and wouldn’t share my toys! It was such a precious keepsake and these days, with all the help to illustrate, it is so much easier to do scrapbooks. Sadly Christine’s stopped soon after her sister was born when she was almost 3 -I guess her mum ran out of time.
