Saturday Share – July 4th

Hello!

Grace here, from upstate! I’ll give you all the inside scoop on my trip next week. For now, I’m taking a well needed break, and so will keep it shorter than my usual waffle 😉

DID YOU KNOW that ‘to waffle’ meaning ‘to talk a lot‘ is DEFINITELY a British thing? I just showed my Mark this blog and waffle-pillow photo and I’ve never see anyone look so perplexed. Hahaha. We got to the bottom of it in the end. But sometimes this British/American thing has us going round in circles. And lots of laughter.

“WHAT IS A LOTTA WAFFLE?” – Mark

Here is a funny video that I can relate to massively. ‘Cos it’s Saturday and it’s fun… Enjoy

Trousers/pants is definitely one that causes confusion!

Anyway… less waffle. I’ve been looking through Clarity Worldwide & Groovi Worldwide in search for fabulous cards of yours!

Not really a hard job. There’s TONS. But it is hard to pick 5 of them. These were easy picks though… You’ll see why!

Ana Cristina Filipe Rebocho
Lorraine Bielckus
Julie Dunn
Roz Watts
Dee Paramour

People will forget what you said,
People will forget what you did,
But they will never forget how you made them feel.
– Maya Angelou

These 5 cards all made me feel really happy when I looked at them.
Crazy good. Thank you!

Lotsa love, Grace xoxo

Hi Grace, it sounds like your having fun. It’s not just American v English, it also covers regional dialect in the UK☺️ Fabulous artwork as has become the norm and such wise words from Maya. Hope to catch up with your travels later in the week.🤞. Have a great 4th July.

I was talking to my son about the differences just the other day. His example was aluminum and couldn’t figure out why the British pronounced it aluminium. I pointed out that it’s spelled that way in Britain, like we use theater and they use theatre. Not sure how we started talking about it, but we had a nice long chat.

Cookie/biscuit is another one, and what about crisps/chips or chips/fries? Hilarious sometimes.

I did a double take last night listening to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall at Home. She announced she had put pants on for the occasion. It took me a minute of thinking that really was too much information, especially for RAH, before I realised she had an accent! You pick great cards, Grace. Have you read your Mum’s blog? She needs a holiday. Perhaps you could tell her about your break?

The video is so funny. My daughter in law is from Texas and has lived here for 17 years now and still uses all the American words for things. One difference that wasn’t in the video was “I’m gonna grab my purse” when she really means handbag!

Dear Grace. I have been waiting for your blog, wasn’t sure when you would be back, hope you had a lovely break away. I just want to say a big thank you for my prize no 9 I hadn’t looked a the blog for a few days so hadn’t seen the prize winners, when I opened the envelope I thought, they have not sent my foam, as I thought it was my order. Had to then look at the blog to find which one i had won . Thank you very much, I haven’t got those, and they were in my list for a future order.
I have had lots of fun with different names, my daughter and family did 4 years in Connecticut, and my Son and family live in Danville, it’s quite funny. Enjoyed the video. Xx

Happy Independence Day Grace! Enjoy your trip too.
Just wanted to say a big thank you for the gorgeous stencils huni, they arrived safe and sound this week. As soon as I can get some card art created with them I’ll share on Clarity Worldwide.
I have to admit that when the Americans talk about pants my first thought is it’s a bit personal, thinking they’re asking about our knickers lol!
