Long Live The Queen – in our Hearts

Hello there. Grace and Barb here.

I hope this finds you safe and well.

What a sad time it is. The Royal family has lost a cherished Mum, a Grandma and the Head of their family. We’ve lost our beautiful Queen, the most steadfast, constant leader in the world. We felt it only right to pay tribute to our Queen of England. It is certainly the end of an era, and whilst we welcome King Charles, we will always have Elizabeth in our hearts, won’t we. And I imagine we will always remember where we were when we heard the news. Well, we certainly will.

Having spent the day with Oma, we then visited Grandad in the nursing home. Mum and I were just about to leave, handbags on shoulders, moving towards the door, when I asked Grandad if he’d like me to switch the telly on before we left for the evening.

“Oh yes, that would be good”, he said.

Almost immediately Mum gasped, because she saw the flag at half mast. Without any more information than that, she knew. “She’s gone,” Mum wept. And as the image and the newsreaders words began to merge into comprehensible information, we just slowly sunk back into our seats and watched the news unfold with Granddad for a while longer. Heartbreaking. Particularly in a home full of her loyal subjects. The nurse in the corridor was in tears too. She’s was just going from room to room, consoling the residents, who were “devastated” was her word.

Elizabeth will be deeply missed by so very many people. She has touched us all, in some way.

The strangest, and perhaps only uplifting thing was… An hour or so before, as we drove into the carpark of the care home, we both saw the most beautiful rainbow we’d ever seen. We commented on the fact that we had never seen such a full rainbow; stretching from one side of the sky to the other, both ends of the rainbow planted and visible, and every colour bright and full. At this point we were entirely oblivious to anything related to the Queen. Mum even later popped back outside and reported back to us that it had turned into a double rainbow too. Even stranger!

Another hour later, as we made our way to leave again, teary eyed and in shock from the news… we heard the newsreader say “And that rainbow! Above Buckingham Palace. What a rainbow that was”. We both stopped and stared at each other! We had seen it too. All the wonderful colours – much like her wardrobe!

On such a sad day… what a cheerful nod to the Queen herself, who was well-known over the course of her 70 year reign for her affection for bright, bold and colourful ensembles. You can’t tell me that wasn’t her.

Long live Queen Elizabeth II in our hearts. May she Rest in Peace.

We will not be posting artwork tomorrow for the Saturday share.

Travel gently.

Lotsa love, Grace, Barb & Clarity xo

Dear Grace and Barbara its such a sad time, and I’m so glad Mother and daughter were together with Grandad when the news came. The clouds across the whole country weeping tears mourning for our Queen of hearts much like many of us.

I’d just arrived home and sat down to a cheeky take away when the news showed the half mast flag, G & I just looked at each other, Floods of tears streaming down my face we also knew.

The rain, rainbows and the clouds that look like the Queen, looking down over us all. A sign for sure if ever there was one, That her last duty was to leave us all with a double rainbow of hope.

Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II you will never be forgotten and always our Queen of hearts.

A very sad day. I was comforted by the rainbows. God bless the Queen now reunited with her beloved Philip. Just watching her start her final journey. God save the King. 💔

God look after our beautiful Queen as she has looked after us all these years. I was just 1day old when the Queen was crowned and have always felt that we have gone through life together. We will miss her dreadfully but as with the loss of our own dear mothers we will always miss them but never feel to far away from them as we carry on with our daily duties. God bless an love our dear Queen Elizabeth ❤️

    Hi Grace
Just checked in to look at last Sunday’s Groovi project as Jane challenged me to use the A4 plates & saw this post.
Fully understand about the sharing of projects today.
It’s the end of an era that a majority of us have only known with Queen Elizabeth being our Queen. May she rest in peace, together again with Philip, her parents & sister. Already Charles is following in her footsteps by making records – being the longest serving Prince of Wales but I don’t think anyone will beat the 70 year reign of his mother Queen Elizabeth RIP.

I can’t think of anything else to add to what you and others have already said. It’s just so, so, sad the end of an era. I’m just glad you were home here with your Mum and grandparents. Take care everyone and travel lightly xx

Like your mum, I too noticed the flag at Buckingham Palace flying at half mast and knew then for certain that our wonderful Queen was now at rest. Of course I was in tears like so many of us who can never remember a time when Elizabeth wasn’t a part of our lives. And that rainbow? well that can’t have been just a coincidence can it.
R.I.P. Your Majesty. We are truly honoured to have had you as our Sovereign.

    Hi Grace and Barbara
I was in shock. Couldn’t believe what i was hearing and the tears started to flow. She will be truely missed. I was in the lounge and about to go out. I hadn’t had the TV on at all that day. My sister rang me so was a total shock. I believe the rainbow must have been the Queen. She will always be with us and in our hearts.x

Such a sad time. I was on a bowls tour with my husband when the news broke and when we went down to dinner there were several men in tears. One of them had driven for the Queen and he really felt the loss. I was in bits. We now have a new Monarchy and new Government I pray they will work together for the common good. The country is in a very strange place at the moment. I’ve been crafting all afternoon whilst watching TV and wiping my tears. Must go to bed now 😢😢

I was in Brittany, France when I saw a rainbow. It was only later that I learnt of the death of the Queen. May she rest in peace.
